All Humans in One Building

There is a new book series called the Cinder Spires, from Dresden Files author Jim Butcher.

The main idea, that most humans have lived generation inside a giant almost identical towers, with on top? an accessible docking ports for Magic Airschips.

Everyone of these towers were build with an industructable material, and one of tower had a multi-generational project that would cut a hole at the middle length, which allowed for a faster transfer though 'windlass', a airship that almost exclusively used as a elevator.

The tower version would be impossible, the tower would collapse under its own weight. Maybe if you make it incredibly tall, and the top even heavier, paradoxically, the centrifugal force would pull it up instead of down, but then that would be a logistical nightmare.

It is such a good idea to live in one big single building as a city after all we can have less space taken ( from side to side and front to back to be exact ) by having more space up and down so nature can have ground for herself.
