I use Simple Green instead of vinegar. You also want to crimp if you're loading revolver caliber lever action guns.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this. I have shot black powder revolvers and rifles for years and have recently gotten into cartridge guns (.38 spl and .380acp) the price of ammo is quite high and have been debating on reloading my own after I accumulate a few 100 rounds of brass. This has helped thank you.

I like to take the Lee Hand Press to the range with me and use it to do test ladders. BTW you might want to mention a bullet puller, it’s not something that you want to use, but everyone makes mistakes and a bullet puller is cheap insurance.

I'm working as an RSO at a range so I have access to free brass. I shoot a lot of 9mm and 5.56/.223 so I'm probably going to jump on and use this to learn reloading for later on when I get into precision rifle junk and competition pistol. Good times.

Good info here, thanks. I would like to stress to newbies that there is actually NO need to clean your brass at all unless you just like it shiny.....unless it's range pick-up that has got filled with mud or crud or something, so a brass cleaner is something that can wait until you can afford it.

Really want to get this info but I couldn't get past you saying uh, uh, uh, multiple times per sentence. Great topic for a video but it really hurt the feeling that you didn't know the subject by the manner in which you spoke. Thanks for the info on reloading start up. Good luck in the future.

When collecting brass at the range, how are you to know how many times it has been shot and still safe for the pressure of hand loads?

Watching the Lil dude shooting, is what warms a grandpa's heart!
My son was instantly hooked at 6, when the two of us went to the local dump with the .45 my wife bought me for father's day ( I signed for it).
She told me Bud Price wanted to talk to me.
He put the paperwork on the counter, told me to fill it out.
And still without a clue, he pushes this box toward me, saying" happy father's day!
Well, she demurred, as she'd rather shoot .22 , or similar.
My Lil buddy held that .45 , shot the piece of sheet metal I'd stuck in the pea gravel, and scored a hit , First shot!
HE WAS HOOKED! Just like dad.

I love the Lee hand press. Used it to make some custom loads for an antique revolver, a Belgian copy of the .38 caliber Colt 1877.

I’d rather ditch the powder measure and scoop it and put the money to a regular press. You’ll buy one sooner or later and the poor man stays poor and pays twice

yes indeed. It's the initial investment cost minimum 500 give or take that deters me from starting. if you shoot hundreds of rounds every day or even few days a week, then in the long run it's probably worth it.

Nice video. I've reloaded rifle bullets and shotgun shells, but never handgun bullets. Is the flare die you use necessary? Is it a handgun-only thing?

One thing you should have mentioned was common powders. When I started, I got 4 different manuals to compare load data for the cartridges I was interested in. All the powders in my cabinet I can use to load 3 different cartridges. Very economical.

Sorry, but the C.O.A.L. measurement is the MINIMUM length. Seating deeper causes higher pressures in the case when fired, possibly costing you fingers. You are dangerous!

It’s so ironic… everything at work is technology, innovation, innovation, think for the future!!!

When I get home everything is primarily. Measuring cups. Manual wisps. Cast iron cooking. Reloading with hammers and anvils. I hate digital

Ive been soaking my brass in simple green and murphy soap in an empty pickle jar. Let it soak for about 30 minutes and then swish it around. Rinse it under the sink and dry it and it looks almost new when im done. I also twist up a blue shop towel and dry out the insides of the cases and any leftover carbon comes right out. Not as fast as a tuble drier but it gets the job done for almost nothing. Also a cheap ultrasonic cleaner with tge same solution will save a little work as well. They can be bought for under 50$.
