It’s so hard to come home late and reconfigure the vehicle and set batts back on charger. Every part of me just wants to hit the bed!

I don't have a van or nearly as much gear as you do, but I do the same and make it a point to unload the same day I get back home. Future me appreciates that much more. 🙂

Canada? I have a crew heading up there soon. The requirements you mention sound very familiar.

I work as a daily hire for a local news station, and I’m wondering—how do you manage to use your own gear and van on jobs without the broadcast company or the union raising concerns? Do you typically include your personal equipment and vehicle as part of the negotiation when taking on work from news outlets? Also, when it comes to securing other clients outside of the station, do they usually reach out to you, or are you actively pitching your services? Is it possible to make a video about this?

Painful you're having to jump through the hoops RE: now gear temp import process etc... Sounds like a producer's job once you supply a gear list with serials. That's a full day consult fee without blinking.
