ОтветитьPut to note:
1. Aura is a term used in History-taking in particular, they are non-motor simple focal seizures.
2. Subjective to patient before losing consciousness or progression in to motor symptoms
3. If aura alone, they are the seizure themselves, they are just the part of the seizures that patient remembers and is non-motor.
If the temporal lobe is involved first -) metallic taste will be the aura if patient loses consciousness or if it progresses to motor or other symptoms
If only the temporal lobe is involved -) metallic taste will be the seizure and is termed as a simple focal seizure
Everything is temporary but Son of a Gun is Constant ❤

ОтветитьMan trains future doctors better than 99% of medical schools. Never change. Medicine is exponentially better because of your materials.
ОтветитьJust a correction for focal seizures with impairment and focal seizures without impairments on NN notes they are reversed and the correct is that focal seizures without impairment is called simple partial seizure. All good. A great supporter for NN and a big lover 😍
ОтветитьThis was very very good

ОтветитьI had a seizure first time 2 years ago I had auras and then hours later became tonic-clinic.I was taken to the hospital, I think I had a CT. Almost two months later I had another one same thing this time was put on Levetiracetam. I finally got a consult with neurologist who sent me for EEG, then a Sleep Deprived EEG and MRI. All she told me was that the sleep deprived EEG had an abnormal reading. Then she retired. The levetiracetam seems to be keeping me from going unconscious but I was left with no tests to further why I may have had them. I was sent to another neurologist who said my GP could take care of my meds, and he retired. So I’m left clueless.
ОтветитьThank you for the great free education 🙏

ОтветитьHi, it's Anita here, I was in 2018 for a brain operation, where they took a mass on my left frontal lobe (about 5cm), cancer grade 1 and removed it. They couldn't take out everything but most part of it and I was fine until Jan 2024. I began to get seizures again, wbere I look right, everything twitching and I made funny sounds. After I was attmitted to hospital 4 times it vanished. But on the June it started happening again with the following symptoms: My eyes would twich(more on the reght side) and for some reason I can't speak for a minute or 2. But I'm at all timez aware of any conversation that's on and I'm fully aware of my surrounding. I do for a few seconds, stuggle to breathe and my right will go num. Can it be of the operation I had, could it be clogged arteries or what? Help me please😮🙏
ОтветитьAuuuu the ad just ruined my absence seizure experience!

I have generalized absent seizures. I started having my seizures when I was 17 years old. My seizures started when I started my menstrual period. I take Keppra valproare 7.5ml. Does Keppra cause me to be violent? I was told I get violent sometimes when I have a seizure. My seizures very. I will have a seizure then I'm able to stop them when I have a aura. My aura is when I feel like I been running my heart beats fast my legs start jumping, my hands will shake.I feel like I'm looking outside my body. I will have a seizure 1 day then I will go a few days without having a seizure. I have had epilepsy surgery and I have a vegal nerve stimulator it didn't help me get my seizures under control. I read where vitamins would help me. Vitamins D 500-2000iu Folic Acid 1-4mg Vitamin D6 pyridoxine Omega 3 fish oil cbd oil. magnesium deficiency? Looking at my phone or looking at my computer screen trigger a seizure?
ОтветитьI love your content ninja nerd
ОтветитьThank you for this video, my husband just got seizure recently, his mri and eeg is normal but the doctor didn’t check his urine. So im thinking it’s triggered by electrolyte imbalance since he’s drinking diuretic meds, and got sick due to bad colds and not even eating or drinking water lately
ОтветитьI am medical student and really I enjoy your lectures

ОтветитьI was hoping someone can help me out with my questions… I’m a 42 yr old woman that had 2 grand mal seizures back to back in March of 2023…. I don’t remember anything… not the day of or the days leading up to the seizure…. I was on life support in the icu for about a week then a few weeks recovering in the hospital afterwards….. it came on out of nowhere apparently??? I woke up with bruises covering my entire body…. I had a huge knot on my forehead and bit thru half of my tongue…. My nose was also crooked and swollen…. I WAS under a lot of stress at the time….. I also had 2 sudden deaths back to back in my family leading up to it as well. I’ve always suffered from depression and migraines my entire life and my daughter said I had told her I was going to lay down because I had a bad migraine….. again I don’t remember anything…. My family only found out because my daughter has my location and I wasn’t answering for days….. but everyone was stumped…. I’ve been to 4 different neurologists since and no one can give me any idea…. They were SEVERE enough that the emts couldn’t even restrain me and was on life support …. I didn’t recover from the first one before I had a second one right after…. Now I’m diagnosed with epilepsy? How is that possible out of the blue as an adult? I wasn’t on drugs…. I don’t even drink either….. I’m just on antidepressants and have been for years and years…. I’m just scared now…. It was so odd and out of nowhere… the only thing I can think of is stress? However I’m used to stress….i dunno any ideas??? Is this something that happens a lot? I didn’t want epilepsy on my chart but it is what it is I guess…
