Head over to my Instagram [ thecitygeezer ] to see an edited version of the BGH1 clips using a colour space transform. I managed to recover some highlights, hair colour fixed and softened the image slightly. It's very pleasing.
ОтветитьThanks yaar...
ОтветитьBeautiful when not raining lol 😂😊 jokes cheers much ❤
ОтветитьNetflix acept bgh1 and not the other that is the main difference.
ОтветитьBMPCC4K is fantastic! Thanks fot the test.
ОтветитьYou should try using DaVinci YRGB Color Managed with SDR Rec 709 in Resolve project settings instead of a LUT. Then see the difference between footage.
ОтветитьGlad to see this, being a BMPCC 4K owner. I can comfortably wait for their next line of cameras. As for the MFT, no regrets there either. I recently did some upgrades-add ons, and all had great, or better MFT options.
Ответитьman. great vid, this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna have to check out more content.
ОтветитьI stumbled upon the BGH1 as IMCE was doing a review on S5, BMPCC 4K and Sigma fp. I was really considering the S5 but saw that the BGH1 was in the same price range as the S5 but the same style as a Sony FX3 Netflix approved....
ОтветитьYeah I still prefer the colour science of BlackMagic. It’s a shame about moiré but for the price you can’t really complain, definitely punches well above its weight. I prefer the form factor of the BGH1. Hopefully BlackMagic Design come out with something that’s in between an Ursa Mini and 6K Pro, wouldn’t mind something shaped like the BGH1, Komodo or C70. Panasonic supports BRAW via external recorder which also makes it a killer deal. Don’t think anything comes close when it comes to value for hybrid camera line.
ОтветитьThe BGH1 definitely has that digital-broadcast look you see more in TV series where as the Pocket 4K has the more soft and filmic approach. But, the BGH1 with vintage lenses can soften it up and add character.
ОтветитьBmpcc is better
Ответитьpocket wins with DR but IR pollution is not somethingi want to fight with
ОтветитьFor me Panasonic is the best in every way, good video, Thank you.
ОтветитьBMCC gives a more natural look. BGH1 is too red for me
Ответитьthanks, footage looks great on both cameras. I liked the BMPCC4K's footage better
ОтветитьI would have loved to see a split screen, side by side view.
Ответитьhey man thansk fort the video, i am doing a 1-2 year trip around real japan and i want to document it with a decent camera, like either of the ones you had in this video, there will be alot of incar filming while driving powered by 12v and then out of car filiming while walking hiking or just goign around towns what would you choose for a prioject like this knowing that it need 12 v power functionality any ideas?
thansk
Just ame across your channel loving the content and the vibe I'm also a cinematographer from London so its nice to be able to get the perspective from a fellow cinematographer. You have made me realise I'm going to invest in a bhg1 to go alongside my gh5s
ОтветитьGlad to see that you are from London stay blessed Brother and keep doing what you do.
Ответитьlens used?
ОтветитьInteresting canon cinema camera are often red or warm colors that's what Panasonic Bgh1 has been trying to reprocate , because films standards prefer warm spectrum on their pictures. I worked using a CANON XL-1 E (PAL) 25pfs, it's still remarkable the film producer still like Canon's warm approach.
ОтветитьI remember when I had a drone . . . Which is now resting at the bottom of Norwegian fjord 🤦♂️
Anyway, yes that Red hair from the BGH1 though??
I have adjusted the WB on my GH5 and G9 to take it away from Green and yes I have two of the Viltrox EF M2 ii and tweaked the lens in both so they now reach infinity .
For me I think these are too easy to really test, we need extreme conditions, Low light, extremely Sunday’, and just durability as well as longevity. The only time I felt the BH one is when like you said when she was at the well. Other then that based on your commentary the 4K is still the way to go.
What’s your opinion on BMCC4k for run and gun events
I’m just commenting off the intro, beautiful footage.
ОтветитьDifferent lenses? That could've made the well shot so different. I'd like to see what happens if you used the ghalex LUT.
ОтветитьBGH1 is Netflix Approved, so that beats the pocket 4k :)
ОтветитьDang that BGH1 sure does come with some red fringing aye! Great video dude, happy to stick with my BMPCC6k!
ОтветитьThanks for the comparison! Just what I was looking for as these are two cameras I am inches away from buying and may end up getting both anyways. How does the editing experience / grading compare? BRAW vs V Log? I edit in Resolve.
Ответитьsensor read out from the BG-H1 is so slow compared to the BMPCC, you can clearly see it in the pan test at the end, in every single camera test from BG-H1 i have seen the same problem, i had all the GH's from. Panasonic, and all these suffer frim this problem.
ОтветитьBgh1 has more movie-like texture to it than bmpcc
ОтветитьGreat video! I thought the bmpcc4k did much better on the colors, as you mentioned with areas like the hair, although at the well, the people in the edges of the shot looked slightly distorted. The sharpness of the BGH1 was very impressive. All in all, a great video!! love the drone shot too.
Ответитьthe colors looks awesome :) u used a lut or something on the bgh1?
ОтветитьI noticed that color seperation is way better on the Panas. One of the reasons why the subject got more of this 3d pop. While p4k having better highlights and an overall softer image that looks way more pleasing/natural to the human eye ;) But then you could always soften it in Post ;) but it does not work the other way.
ОтветитьI consistently prefer the image from the BMPCC 4K. It just looks more natural. The BGH1 looks like it's trying too hard. I want to like the BGH1, because I'm invested in Panasonic gear for stills, but I'm increasingly coming round to the view that for video, if you want to shoot m4/3 for the lens choice, and edit / grade in resolve, it's hard to make the case for anything over the BMPCC.
ОтветитьI made my decision after watching it. Thanks for helping
ОтветитьHey thanks for the video, hey can you make videos about the rolling shutter of bgh1 it would be great to know more about that and see some examples side by side with other cameras like the packet 4k
Ответитьbmpcc's footage looks pretty flat. Good dynamic range, but not real.
ОтветитьGood job Lumix BGH1
ОтветитьI am in love with the BGH1, even tho in certain situations, the saturation and exposure can get a bit out of hand. That being said, I am more into indoor work, so If I was to get it, I presume I could Control it much better.
ОтветитьResolution looks virtually identical. Shame about the highlights on the BGH1 - it would have been great to see what you could have done with the image if you HAD exposed for the highlights and then tried to match the BM. Your shots would have been excellent for illustrating any potential problems when lifting the exposure on the skin tones.
I have the GH5S and the S1, and I find the S1 can be pushed a lot harder than the GH5S, and would assume the BGH1 would be the same as the GH5S?
Nice vid! I'll be investing into a BGH1 as a bcam soon. I know the S5 will be supporting B-raw. do you think they'll allow that on the BGH1?
ОтветитьThe two cameras are pretty close together in terms of overall quality and resolution.
ОтветитьThat hair does not looks like was shot at same time to me. Looks like the sun changes direction and cause that backlight highlight on bgh1.
ОтветитьThank you for the review. I get it, I would go for the BMPCC4K
ОтветитьI feel like the way you graded the images could use a more fair comparison BGH1
