My dad was an F-4 pilot, serving in Viet Nam in 1968. I miss him dearly.
ОтветитьMy Dad was the head metalsmith foreman at North Island NAS (where the Top Gun Maverick movie was recently filmed) up until 1975 when he retired, and was responsible for the repair and maintenance of F-4 Phantoms for the Navy during the Vietnam war. His primary function was to estimate what it would cost to rebuild the jets that had crashed, if it was worth it to repair, and to direct their repairs. He knew every inch of those wonderful aircraft! Also maintained Blue Angels' jets when they used F-4s and would work directly with McDonnell Douglas engineers in St. Louis to effect repairs when defects were found with the internal structures like metal fatigue. As you can see, I am very proud of my father's contributions to the longevity of these birds!
ОтветитьAmazing
Thanks so much
smoke show - fantastic! 👍
ОтветитьI can remember sitting on my surfboard waiting on a wave in Jacksonville Beach Florida in the 60’s when and F4 flying out of Mayport Navy base would fly over you breaking the sound barrier and scaring the crap out of you about 200 feet over your head. Ah those were great times. Absolutely a beautiful aircraft especially with USA emblems in Red, White and Blue.
ОтветитьOld and out dated
Ответить🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
ОтветитьI recognise this place 👀
ОтветитьI grew up in a town of north western Greece, close to Aktion airbase. Can't remember how many hundreds of times as a kid I stopped what I was doing and run to the windows to watch the phantoms pass after hearing their amazong engines sound.... We are grateful to phantoms and their pilots for what they offered for more than half a century ☺️💪🇬🇷💪🇬🇷☺️

ОтветитьAhh the smokin thunder hog!
ОтветитьΑρε Ελλάδα, όλοι οι ''πολιτικοί'' σε πούλησαν. Όμως ΑΚΟΜΑ ΥΠΑΡΧΕΙΣ.
ОтветитьI remember watching those F4s taking off for intercept missions 20 years ago. Back then, they were used in the fighter role from 339 fighter squadron. Best time of my life, being part of the Hellenic airforce.
ОтветитьΣτο φαράγγι του Βουραϊκού ….Τρομεροι…
ОтветитьGreek living on Anglesey watching this Dafydd! Bora da!
ОтветитьΘειο δωρΤο
ОтветитьNothing sounds like a Phantom
ОтветитьThose exhaust trails are unmistakable
ОтветитьThe great F4 still chugging along. Very nice.
ОтветитьAwesome✈️👍
ОтветитьFantom - the only plane that you can see the smoke before you see the plane...:)
ОтветитьThat first Rhino was really smoking. Normally I would say get that bird in the hush house and put a good trim on the j-79, but considering the age, they are like an old auto engine, no matter how you tune them, they're just gonna smoke because they are worn out. Love to see and hear them, won't be able to for much longer!
ОтветитьI gotta say that today, The Saint Louis Ghosts were the lowest, fastest and smoothest through the ditch! A big heavy bird, seriously boosted hydraulic flight controls, analog stab aug hooked directly to the jockey's hands are truly amazing!
ОтветитьRafales tip to tip and inverted is some hairy shxt!
ОтветитьExcellent photos and videos, thanks.
ОтветитьThat's why I like flying with Greek airlines - many pilots were trained with the air force. I've also watched dog fights with the Turkish Nato brothers over the Aegean and would be delighted if these provocations became obsolete at some point. Stick together!
ОтветитьWhere is this? That spot is amazing. Are 600mm enough?
ОтветитьWas in the Navy 1968-72, including service off the coast of Vietnam, where we followed aircraft carriers. Saw lots of F-4s.
ОтветитьEn iyiler savaşta belli olur..
