Is it just me, or is AMEX no longer mentioning the annual $300 Equinox credit on their site? Is this a sign that the refresh is coming soon?

Does mortgage payment with the card counts towards the spend requirement?

I've had a CSR for years and it's great, but lounges in ATL suck. Just applied for both amex gold and platinum today for lounges and points. Managed to snag a 100k points offer on Amex gold and 175k on platinum. About to go on my honeymoon so I'll have plenty of restaurant spend on my gold and I think bills will take care of the spend on platinum. Overall, it'll take away from the value of the CSR, but I feel like the primary rental coverage and easy travel credit will make it worth keeping for me. Amex won't give me good points multipliers on rentals anyways. I don't think I'll cap out the dining cap for points on gold, but if I do, I've got CSR to fall back on. And work won't let me book hotels through amex, so those will go on CSR too.

I'd love to see a video doing a side by side comparison of AMEX's travel website to Chase's travel website, if you haven't already. A big factor to consider are their websites, and if they aren't any good, it can be a serious handicap for that company's cards.

One thing that’s worth noting and I’m not sure how the AMEX portal is, but the Chase portal is typically three times more for flights than if you book direct. I’m on the fence right now between the sapphire reserve and the platinum card. The one thing that I really love about the platinum is that you can get 5X points by booking directly through your airline which I think is totally clutch!

For AMEX PLATINUM, does the companion card also count
towards the $8,000 in the first six months to get the BONUS??

For Amex, how much have any of you save under the premium economy special rate?

Amex no longer offers lounge Access to Delta Sky Club unless you’re flying Main cabin or above. Aka no economy tickets.

Thanks for the informative video. I tried to apply for the Amex Plat card (Schwab) but gave up when notified that I would not be eligible for the SUB. I think it's because I had the DL Skymiles Amex Gold card previously (canceled in June 2023). Is that right? How long is the waiting period before I am eligible for the SUB for a new Amex Plat card?

However, I’m hearing the $695 fee is due for an increase in 2025. If this is the case would they include more perks? And I’m thinking of waiting for a better incentive than than 80,000 points currently offered. What’s your thoughts Sebby?

I do both. The Chase trifecta is my main earning workhorse, and the Plat is there because my credits more than offset the annual fee for me. I don't really spend on it unless there's a good card offer or I'm buying airline tickets.

You mean to tell me everyone has access to the Chase lounges regardless if they’re CC holders or not? Im moving to Vegas and am looking to get a travel card. Was considering Delta Reserve but there’s no hub in Vegas so am considering another.

Any real life experience with using trip cancellation/interruption perks with either of these cards?

The Amex plat is offering 150K rewards points right now with $8K spend in the first 6 months, for those that are interested.

Regarding Delta Sky Club access -- I keep reading that the one visit = 24-hour period is effective starting Feb 1, 2025. Can anyone confirm whether it is the case now? @AskSebby did it work on your Paris trip?

🥤 I am on both teams: CSR and Amex Platinum (normal + Schwab). Schwab is great b/c I can transfer points at 1.1 c/MRpt into my Roth IRA, and it doesn't count against my contribution limits! 👀 The cards aren't everyday spend for me — I use other workhorse cards for that (e.g., Amex Gold, CF, CFU, AR). These cards are mainly for travel, special purchases (especially Amex), and lounge access. Between the CSR, Amex Platinum, and United Club card, I am mostly covered anywhere for lounge access for my family. FYI, the Amex Platinum companion card ($0) gets Clear membership fee reimbursement as a perk. 🙌 . Chase is a better overall everyday. Both have regressed in benefits: Amex ($75k lounge, $195/user, DE credits) and CSR (PP restaurants). I would likely remove CSR if they don't make it possible to get to breakeven point w/ credits.

Also Delta Skye lounges are unlimited on Platinum if you spend 75,000 dollars within the year and it will be good for the following year. So you can get more than 10.

Yea the restaurant drop for chase is an interesting choice. Wonder if they will drop anything else to save on costs.

CSR losing Priority Pass restaurants is a big disappointment.
