What would you miss the most if you had to live in this habitat?

Sorry to Inform you Guys but people are Already on Mars and have been for Many Years. America's Secret Black Ops. Military-the Folks who Build and Run All the Secret Military Bases here on Planet Earth have Technology that is probably 1000 years ahead of what the Most Prestigious College might use. The UFO's Seen in the Night Sky are probably 75% American Made.. Real Aliens have been Helping our Space Program since the 50's.....

bad and far faaar away and risky and dangerous and whatnot. not a vacation, but I still haven't heard anything that would hold me back. and the 10 minutes shower per week? it sounds limited and it is, but compared to 0 (in some eras, places and situations) that long minute per day can help a lot. F.e. after my daily jogging and no shower, I would not tolerate my own smell, I am sure. But if need be, a 1 minute shower could spare me that experience

Why go to mars if we can just take care of our planet till we find even better technology while we keep running these tests?

What is with these rover controls? My god... Include a controller, for goodness' sake. It makes the whole process way more efficient. Typing in commands should all be automated with a proper interface...

"getting a reply could take up to 40 minutes"
Wrong. Depending on the orbits of earth and mars, it could take up to 12 hours. This is one of the big challenges behind rover operation.
You literally said "depending on the orbits of earth and mars... it could take longer... so getting a reply could take up to 40 minutes"

smh

The problem with all those people training to live on mars is they do not seem to realize that we will not get to mars in our lifetime. The technology is not there. They don't have the adequate propulsion method; they don't know how to protect the astronauts from micro-particles; they don't know how to avoid calcium loss in bones; they don't know how they will feed these same astronauts for the minimum 5 years trip (they will still have to come back someday) they will engage in; they don't know how or in what they will live in once they reach mars... And they only THINK there is water there, which is not a proven fact as yet.... And those are only the most visible problems.

I think more active people won't be able to survive in Mars as there is nothing much to do there for rest of their lives .You need the Lazy people to do that .NASA really need to change the strategy .These NASA astronauts who are crazy over achiever/competitive in life won't survive the dead End of Mars .Maybe the Amish are good type of people who can survive Mars or ordinary famers
