Success is a huge reinforcement
ОтветитьYup, dog nerd lol
ОтветитьI don’t see any good points to this video, other than keeping an open mind in your training techniques other than that nothing
Ответитьso useful. thank you.
ОтветитьVery informational...gracias!
ОтветитьGreat presentation, loved it!
Ответить‘Get to the shelter’ great advice
ОтветитьI always come back to this video, thank you so much for keeping it easy to follow and understand. I'm very grateful 👍🐾 Jo
ОтветитьYou should try and play tug a war with my 70bl American bull dog/ half Boston terry he will jump off of the ground playing tug a war
ОтветитьHi, can i tug play with my huskita puppy whos new teeth are coming in?
ОтветитьDidn't know Ryan Gosling was a dog trainer haha
Ответить"Would you keep playing a videogame if you lose every time?"
me laughing nervously while I boot up Tarkov again
Every morning me and my dog Emma have play time tug and she love me to throw and being it back and tug on it and I let her win I let her play as long as her want to then she take a nap
ОтветитьWhen she started to shake her toy really hard I stop her because it looks like more then play it that right or Rong what I do
ОтветитьI would lovey dog to so all that even to hell like that
Ответить"excuse my language... Sucks"
Sir how could you
The heal with sunny was so beautiful 😻
ОтветитьNea van r. You are a clown 🤡🤡
ОтветитьGreat video. Almost thought he was Ryan Gosling lol
ОтветитьA clicker was used to get a gorilla to have blood work drawn all for a piece of banana. You're not putting a collar/leash on a gorilla to get them to do what you want, thank God for clickers! They're great for teaching new things, just have to be a bit careful as they really capture a moment in time - super specific. You mentioned going to shelters too. A lot of our local dog shelters have treat bowls outside the cages to reward only the quiet dogs. I also ask for sits. If they don't, I'll throw the treat on their bed and say go to your bed. Eventually the whole kennel gets quiet because only the quiet dogs are getting reinforced. Great video guys!
ОтветитьI would absolutely listen to you two prattle on about dog training for hours. Came here for tips and got a bonus treat!
ОтветитьWish they spoke about prey drive directly.
ОтветитьI have a 4 month old AKC German Rottweiler , I always play tug a war with her, I always let her win, I even throw the rope and she loves getting it and bringing it back.
ОтветитьShe picks up things so fast
Ответитьhad adopted a puppy a couple weeks ago, went last weekend before heading to my parents to hang with the new puppy I went to the first shelter we saw to talk a dog. They never mentioned this after asking three people about what time is best to walk them, but they had me washing all their food/water bowls. I got done with 25 of them, thinking I was done and the guy showed me a stack 5x as big. I did not stay because I had things to do and just wanted to get the dogs some fresh air. Pretty sad that places do this and never told me I had to prior to walking. They emailed me back saying we weren't a good fit... and that "volunteers" needed to do some "not so fun" job before walking them.
I doubt these dogs are ever taken out and is the worst smelling building due to this.
Really good both. Excellent.
ОтветитьGreat video, terrible sound.
ОтветитьLove the presa canario in the background photo!
Ответитьthis is great! I was struggling with my new pup wanting to take the tug and thrash it/chew on their own. I had a long line on the tug, and was using that to bring them back to me, but ill be putting the leash back on them to guide them to me. and I like the fingertip technique!!
ОтветитьMy 5 month old RR pup and I absolutely love playing tug together. There are clear rules, he brings the toy to me and has to sit and play doesn't start until I give the command to play, he will release the toy on command and we have rules to separate each 'round' of play marked with a sit and paw shake so I am not caught off guard.
I usually win and sometimes I let him win, I make a huge fuss regardless of who wins. I find playing this way helps reinforce him listening to me so good things happen and it is lots of fun for both of us and helps cement our bond.
Play really is a great, on many different levels. Confidence/relationship building, exercise, training/reward. I'm no expert, only training my 3rd dog, but my first was off-leash at 7/8 months old. He's going on 13, and his companionship has been one of the most rewarding/fulfilling experiences in my life.
ОтветитьVariety is the spice of life.
ОтветитьSadly, I couldn't bear to listen as the sound was so bad.
ОтветитьI’ve played tug with my Malinois since she was 7 weeks old… the goal was for her to win so her confidence will grow and her bond & commitment to return and play with me increases. We played helicopter as well and she is was always happy to please me. She has been a Live Air Scent SAR dog… when the subject was found, tug was her favorite reward. She can hardly wait to play tug because it hee high value reward.
ОтветитьRyan Gosling moonlights as a dog trainer?
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьThanks so much for this video. I am completely raw in proper tug playing and I’ve got 2 dogs that could benefit from it so much, I just need some instruction to do it in a good way for them
Ответитьi've got a 4 month old male german shepherd, and i have a good bite pillow that he only wants to bite and play with inside the house. outside, he's too distracted. i do some obedience work with him beforehand, and he's fantastic with heeling, sit, down, wait/stay, but i hooked him up to the back of my truck and he just did not care about the pillow.
i don't know, should i be doing WAY more obedience before trying the pillow again? i don't want to force it on him; when he's inside he wants to bite but when he's outside he just looks at the pebbles on the ground thinking that there's a treat somewhere. i'm bringing him to a 3 day seminar for working dogs and puppies next month, but i don't know what to do in the meantime. any advice from anyone???
I love tug of war and my dude let’s me win. He always makes sure I give up the toy when asked. Great balance.
ОтветитьAs the so-called premier experts, why don't you address the most challenging case? I've got a world-class show dog (German Shepard), obviously not a working dog, that shows NO, i repeat NO, prey drive. You can drag a toy on the floor, you can place it in front of it's mouth and move it around.... NOTHING... I repeat... NOTHING. How do you create prey drive where there is none. Your video doesn't come even close to answering that question.
ОтветитьThe guy on the right is literally Ryan Gosling
ОтветитьIf I let my dog win the toy, she won't come back with it to me. Just pisses off with it. I can try running away backwards from her, trying to lure and entice her to me, have another toy... No matter what. She won't come back with the toy. If I put her on the long line and drag her back to me and take it, she becomes possessive because I want to take it from her. Any tips?
Ответить“If you never win are you going to keep playing the video game?”
Obviously he has never played Escape from Tarkov.
I have a 5 months old Belgian Sheepdog that loves to tug. We train foundation for agility. If let the toy go, she is not bringing it back to me. If I take another toy she will immediately go for whatever is in my hand, so I have to initiate the game. Wish she would bring the toys back to me. I will try your technique with having her on a leash.
ОтветитьImpressive!
ОтветитьRyan Reynolds? Ryan Gosling?
ОтветитьMy Pitbull loves to play tug BUT he NEVER lets go period. I even take him out for walk/run/frisbee/ball before playing tug. He just wants to shred the tug...I've tried Method K9 training but end up getting bit in crotch and shirts ripped LOL All my fault of course :)
ОтветитьI play tug. After a bit, I let him win. He brings me the tug only half way so far but allows me to get the rope on the tug and do it again. He never lunges at my hand when I reach for it.The tug is not left out for play. It is always interactive and for a short time.
ОтветитьI can't believe he said this: "Don't play soft. If you play soft you'll have a soft dog."
What exactly is wrong with a "soft"dog? 😏
My dog keeps running away when I let him win
