“I am fine “ is fine to use, I can even heard some ppl use it when I watched American dramas.
U never use it doesn’t mean it’s wrong
And never say nobody uses it

Acronym for FINE:
F- Ucked Up
I- Insecure
N- Neurotic
E- Emotional
Now I say, “ I’m good, thank you.” 😅

You're mistaken. Native English speakers are not ESL users. Nothing is wrong with saying, "I am fine." In Ghana, it is appropriate to thank people for caring to ask how one is doing. So culture influences the way we speak a language. In fact, I have spoken to many English people and they also say the same thing, "I am fine." Remember that the response, "I am fine" is not grammatically wrong. So, you cannot say we should not say, "I am fine." I will continue to say it because it is grammatically correct and reflects my culture. If you don't say it, it does not mean, we over here cannot also say it. I will advise you to teach ESL users other ways of saying it but not to condemn it because it is not grammatically wrong. Mind you, many people who watch your videos are also English teachers and there will be reactions if you don't live up to expectations. For example, you said that native speakers in Britain don't say, "I am fine." That is not true. In London, many native speakers say, "I am fine." Clearly, you did not do your homework well before teaching this lesson.

When you say "native speakers" you mean people from Englishland, this place where nobody says "I'm fine"? The fact you and your mates don't use it does not mean nobody else does either.

English is not my first language (though now much better than my original Dutch) and I've never gotten used to the "how are you" phrase when they really don't care and just mean "hello". So, just say "hello" fer cryin' out loud.

For goodness sake. English people are not American with their false superficial social interaction. The last thing I wish to do its engage in superficial small talk. You are training your students to make the world a more noisy, intrusive and repulsive place.

I am 77 yo, native to US but have lived for several years in Canada, and have spent several months in England. In all those places, any response other than, "I'm fine, thanks, . . . and you?" would lead the person to think that something is not quite right. My husband died nearly two years ago. To strangers I still reply that I'm fine. Those who know my circumstances often ask, "How are you DOing?" with a furrowed brow. At first, I sometimes replied simply, ""I'm doing," implying that I am managing, one day at a time. More recently, I say with a smile, "I'm hanging in there." People really don't want to hear, "I'm crying my eyes out every night, " and wouldn't know what to do or say if I DID say that.

There are two from George Carlin that I use a lot, "fairly decent" and "I'm not unwell thank you". On that note you can create a vast number of self contradictory yet meaningful statement. I'm not going to say all of these are funny but many of them are. Fabulously peculiar, uniquely fantastic, chaos gracefully, adventurously content, curiously cheerful, strangely wonderful, delightfully weird, happily anxious, jovially serious, blissfully restless, blissfully restless, optimistically skeptical, eagerly patient, radiantly brooding, cheerfully conflicted, exuberantly composed. Tell these to kids and watch them try to figure them out.
