In this 7 week prerequisite class to our new Discovering A Serial Killer series of classes for youths between the ages of 13 and 18 years old, and adults 18 years old and up, students will learn how to profile violent criminals including what can be learned from the crime itself, the forensic evidence, psychological and sociological factors, and why some people seem to be more prone to being victims of crime through lecture and group discussion, culminating in an informal Assessment using realistic, fictional crimes.

Week 4: Forensic Science: What Is It and How Does It Help Us?
Week 5: Schools of Thought in Profiling
Week 6: Famous Profilers: Who Are They and How Did Their Contributions Lead To Present Day Profiling?
Week 7: Final Assessment: Learning To Apply Profiling Approaches To Realistic Fictional Crimes
As with our other courses, Students are encouraged to participate in using creative problem-solving skills to comprehend and apply the approaches to criminal activities. Although no prior knowledge is required, exposure to similar media showing true crime is beneficial.
