Thank you for another well thought out piece.
I understand your struggle, although for me it's with which Leica to bring, although the Hasselblad looks oh so tempting!
The studio the B&W video and the image quality of the video is absolutely amazing!
ОтветитьHi thanks for this on time and great video ! As far as I am concerned I own the X2D and the latest 2,5/90v,38v,28p and the 45p. Such a joy to use and to edit with Phocus Ipad application; at the same time so frustrating to use because the absence of a proper joystick and the still poor focus performance. Did you experience shooting and editing with the Fuji GFX 100 II ? How would you compare the two systems : praticality of use and colors rendering? I am sometimes tempted to switch to Fuji as the GFX lenses are half the price of Hassselblad lenses. Patrick
ОтветитьHuge fan of the whole new V series. Glad to see your work with it on launch, Hugh!
ОтветитьHugh, love your videos and the music that you use.........BUT .....
The music is always tooo loud in comparison to your voice .
Thanks Hugh, no one touches their color science for sure. There is just a quality there like Leica as well that is just dreamlike. I have shot both systems and just nothing touches them. Great video Hugh, thanks
ОтветитьI program the programmable ring on the new V lenses to ISO control when using it on the CFV-100c (without the grip), to make ISO adjustment easy on the fly. But otherwise would see how setting it to aperture control makes the most sense.....Thanks for your succinct review. Having the 21mm and 28P, I am not sure the 25v is worth the price of admission for me for how I shoot. But if I shot a lot of nighttime shots off of a tripod, I would jump on this lens. Otherwise, I personally prefer the wider angle of the 21mm, and the portability of the 28P. You showed the MTF chart comparisons - if I see comparison shots showing noticeably better optical performance in the 25v over the 21mm, I might be more tempted. Length and weight wise, the 21 and 25 are about the same (with the 21 being larger in diameter).
ОтветитьNice setup!
ОтветитьI need to know what Hugh thinks, I need to know what Hugh thinks. He likes it. Thank goodness as I had already ordered it.
ОтветитьI use the x2d and the Leica M 11P. In the last 2 years i have used my M11 at 90% of the time. I consider the idea of selling my Hasselblad and the 4 xcd lenses.
ОтветитьOrdered immediately and BH has shipped already. Can not wait
ОтветитьI may have picked this if it was available a few months ago when I bought the X2D. Debated long and hard between the 28 and 21. These V lenses are beautiful but hard to justify the cost over the older X series lenses on the used market if you don’t need the wider apertures
ОтветитьYour videos are always great (thanks!) we all do love to see Hasselblad and Leica gear (you do show them in their best angles 👏👏) but I can’t help thinking that the fast autofocus on the latest Nikon/Canon/Sony gear would get all the shots you want, every time?
ОтветитьThanks for mentioning the 45mm. I love mine!
ОтветитьI have the 38mm and on waitlist for 90mm. Not sure if I need 25mm. Looking for suggestions.
ОтветитьYou did not mention the 25V's Achilles heel...vignetting.
ОтветитьHello Hugh, I have both the X1D and the X2D c100 and 5 of the amazing XCD lenses this is one that I may well add to my kit. As you say it dose come interesting when choosing what system to take out with you. But these are all very much 1st world problems.
ОтветитьHave you made any large prints from images that were taken using the hyperfocal distance scale on the newer V lenses? If so, do the final prints suffer from lack of critical focus? Yeah, I'm basically asking how well an 8000 dollar camera with a 3000 dollar lens works as a point and shoot, but that's just how I do my street photography.
ОтветитьDo you recommend the 25 mm or 38 mm
ОтветитьHave any of the issues that can be fixed (as mentioned in the video) in firmware actually been fixed?
ОтветитьKit choices: I can relate. However, mine are not so nose-bleed high end as yours. Do I just take my LX-100? Grab some mix of my multiple MFT bodies and lenses? Or do I threaten the well being of my aging spine by grabbing the S1R and lenses. Sometimes, too many gear choices can smother the simple joy of shooting. This foto-FOMO sometimes feels like a trap. One day, I’ll have the discipline to reduce the kit on hand to a reasonable size. No longer shooting for money, it should be easier than it probably will be.
ОтветитьI'm waiting for 25v availability and I will have the same setup. X2D - 45p, 90v, 25v
ОтветитьIs the laud dry clicking shutter sound on this lens normal? Thanks for a reply.
ОтветитьDo you consider the 25V is optically as good as the 90V?
