ОтветитьMythology nerd here. The Greek Goddess of Nature is Demeter. Isis is an Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood and Magic. Closest Greek Goddess name is Iris, Goddess of Rainbows
ОтветитьWhere Isis's parents called Taliban and Rahbar and her cousins Gaddafi and Assad?
ОтветитьAnyone here after settle down. When he is gonna be a dad.
ОтветитьAs far as unfortunate classroom names, our English teacher was well loved by his pupils. Cheeky and cheesy, one example was mucking about with our names for the morning register.
"Today class, we're going to swap round the initial letters of your surname and first name."
Uh? Bit weird & not very good we thought. Until I noticed poor old Martin Fackerell's reddening face ...
Ever since he was known as stinky, farty, you name it.
❤😂❤😂❤😂😂
ОтветитьI just saw the JW in the corner and thought: why does this have a Jehovah's Witnesses logo?
ОтветитьI had a classmate in elementary named Iran
ОтветитьThat thumbnail scared the crap out of me while I was scrolling
ОтветитьAND NOW THAT GUY'S A DAD
ОтветитьFriend of mine went to school with someone named Dingbat
Somehow worse that the classmate was a girl
'Feels like a routine that is on barrowed time'... Oh you were so right.
ОтветитьHasn’t he just had a kid like 2 days ago??
Ответитьthis sort of thing, happened when I was in elementary school, some poor kid who was from west Africa was named, Asia. why do people name their children after continents, like it's a good thing?
ОтветитьNo joke — I taught a child whose name was Cleotris. She went by Cleo, but I felt so sorry for her due to the horrible treatment she forced to endure throughout middle school. Why would a parent do that to a child?
ОтветитьWell, the first five seconds ('I'm definitely not ready to have a child, I'll be a terrible parent') have not aged well, cos he is going to be a dad in September ❤
Hope he doesn't use any of the names he jokes about here 😂
Ice Spice’s name is Isis 💀
Makes me laugh
Hajshsk isis is my middle name, I got that all the time in middle school after they found out my middle name-
Ответитьi just remembered on the news these woman wanted to sue Isis because that's what she called her business years ago they tried to point out i dont think they care about copy right laws
ОтветитьI had a classmate whose name was kayke (literally pronounced ka-ai-ke) K"something" (don't actually remember the last name). Our class also had a Kailee.
One day a substitute teacher got confused with both Kais, and on an effort to not mix them up, ended up calling kayke, "KK K" (kei-kei-kei) and poor dude got stuck with a killer nickname the rest of the year.
The most compassionate ones called him "triple K" but the fire had already been spread and NO ONE was ready to let go yet.
So Jack hit a kid skiing? Like … is that a thing now? When is his trail?
ОтветитьTo be fair, Isis is a pretty ancient name, going back to the Egyptian goddess. I would just assume that anyone who named their kid Isis did it because of tradition. That being said, sometimes you should hold off tradition until words get new meanings. Like anyone who decided to shorten "Richard" to "Dick"
Ответитьgoddamn the mum who named their child "Isis" is even wrong about its meaning, she's definitely not a greek goddess of nature. She's an egyptian goddess of magic.
ОтветитьThis happened to my sister Arielle, (pronounced Are-EE-El) because my mom liked the name. Then a little film called "The Little Mermaid" came out and swept the world by storm. Cue 30 years of constantly correcting everyone who called her "Ariel" because of that Jamaican crab. It actually helped her out when she started up a swim school, so...
ОтветитьMy cousins name is Isis. My brother and I teased her for a little bit but it's over now.
ОтветитьI can relate..I hit a kid too…I must stay off social media..(sigh)
ОтветитьThe swastik is way older than Buddhism. It's an ancient Indian symbol, still very important to hindus. Often found at the doorways of homes, is in every temple, every home altar. The oldest known swastik dates to around 10,000 years ago from the Ukraine, and as indians, it is still important. So when you enter a Hindu home, don't get all offended and so on. That would be very inappropriate!
ОтветитьI would never name my kid “I ACCIDENTALLY HIT A KID SKIING
Ответитьi know someone called isis that's younger than the group.
ОтветитьThe fact that i was hit while skiing makes me want to think more
ОтветитьIsis is the goddess of magic, not nature. And not REMOTELY Greek, but rather Egyptian
ОтветитьThe Adolf bit reminded me I actually have a great uncle Adolf who is buried in Mt. Hebron cemetery on our family plot. XD. It was so jarring to see that the first time I ever went there.
ОтветитьIsis is actually roman🤣🤣
ОтветитьKinda dead crowd icl
ОтветитьWhen I was little I used to think ISIS and the IRS were the same thing
ОтветитьIsis is an Egyptian name... I know I sound like a complete nerd but the Greek Goddess of Nature is Phusis.
ОтветитьIsis is not Greek it's Egyptian, the Egyptian goddess of fertility and magic and the wife of Osiris
ОтветитьAnyone who's watched the TV show Archer knows this problem well. The agency the entire cast works for is named ISIS. Very unlucky coincidence.
ОтветитьMy niece is called isis
ОтветитьHere in Brasil Isis is actually a pretty common name for young girls. I knew quite a few growing up. I'd never really made the correlation between Isis the name and ISIS the... well, ISIS before, probably because ISIS wasn't really a big deal here as far as I can tell.
ОтветитьThey legit killed off the dog in Downton Abbey when it was named Isis jfc XD
ОтветитьMy daughters name is Ármey, pronounced kinda like our may. EVERY english speaking person we meet say Army?? 😳 Then they give us this facial expression saying “weird but ok!!” 😂
ОтветитьIsis is not Greek she's egyptian
ОтветитьI lived in a town where the local bone cracker was actually named Harold Dick, Dr. Harold Dick. He had it emblazoned on his window in beautiful gold letters. I always thought, wow, he must be a real hoot! Often thought of him as an inspiration.
Ответить"it's greek for goddess of nature" and then the kid's named after an egyptian goddess
ОтветитьShooty shooty bom bom, isn't there a song that goes something like that
ОтветитьI was on a sled and there was this french kid standing in the way let’s just say he did a flip he dident mean to do
ОтветитьIsis is the Egyptian goddess of fertility.
