Shape of Water was a bit weird, but I didn't mind it. It was really interesting and I loved the premise for it. I've been wanting to read this book. You are the second person I have heard mention the repetition of the writing. Really wonderful review.

I was confused about Germany as well. Given the mention of her blonde hair, I thought it was because he was german/Argentinean (given his name) but maybe not?

you basically described my feelings reading this book! as for fan art, Tumblr is where it's at haha. just look up axiom's end on tumblr and you'll find a few pieces of great fan art! obviously, there's some differences in interpretation but they're all interesting to look at!
