Honestly as a native English speaker, I watch all shows and movies with English subtitles. People mumble, there is background noise and different accents… it just helps. And a lot of us do it 😅

I want to share a slightly different perspective on movies. When I was preparing for a mission construction trip to Senegal, I wanted to "brush up" (an idiomatic phase meaning to make better, or improve upon) on my French learning by listening to spoken french used in a Netflix Sci Fi movie called "Travelers." I selected a French version, where the English dialogue had been replaced with French using a process called "dubbing," where actors are brought into a recording studio and speak the original actors lines in a particular non-original language, in this case, In French. I used the English subtitles, because I knew it would be a mental overload at my French level (not quite to B1 yet) and I needed to be able to maintain the story line. Here is my tip: I watched the actor's mouth and face instead of reading the subtitles directly. My ears would hear the dialogue and occasionally pick out a word or phase I actually understood, and part of my mind could attach English meaning because the English words were still in my field of vision. In this way, I wasn't just reading my way through the movie, and I had some additional exposure to what a French speaking actor would be saying in real time. It made many hours of exposure to the sound of French much more palatable than a slow paced lesson where I would order coffee and a croissant. HTH.

By the way, your English is excellent. I know a lot of eastern European people who could use some improvement. Sometimes, their Russian or Hungarian accent is so heavy that I have to work to figure out just what they are attempting to say. Your small accent is actually very alluring. And, you are easy to look at.....so there's that, too.
