what baffles me is what is the difference between the old joining a public server and the new casual that .. puts you into a random public match.. am i missing something? because these seem like the same thing to me

No one even plays Comp anymore though.

Casual mode is different from competitive. I mean, it's not been ruined by competitive.

Y'know, I got that Casual XP bug where XP wouldn't get saved after leaving the game, but when I played casual mode next day, after the match, I would have scrolled from level 6 to level 30 thousands in a second. Really satisfying to watch. Like those "most satisfying videos", but actually satisfying.

Casual is literally pubs but with some of the issues fixed

ArraySeven, I would like to say thank you. On my first round of competitive tf2, everyone was persistent with who they were (pocket, roamer, demo, scout 1, etc) and I could only choose medic. So now I'm partly a medic main now. The fate of new MEHDICKS lie in your hands.

I'm just gonna say that I gained 93% of my total playtime AFTER the update. I liked the new system, sorry if you find that stupid. But I finally started understanding the game.
I even started to actually play medic, soon maining him because I actually had some teammates who understood my intentions and cooperated.

Once upon a time you entered a server, joined any team and walked around killing stuff while an old lady yelled at everybody about some objective?

What the casual mode is 'casual competitive'. It's a dumbed down competitive mode, semi-serious. What made TF2...well, TF2 was its unique gameplay. In pubs, you could basically do anything you want. You can fuck around, hang out with random players, do something funny and overall have complete freedom. In casual mode, you're basically forced to play seriously. I was playing engineer and also medic pretty lazily, hanging out with enemy heavy and I got kicked for not doing anything 'big'. If I wanted to go back to the same, I have to go to the server browser, and it's extremely annoying finding a populated, unmodded server. With quickplay, I can just press one button and done.

huh this is a new and neat prospective rip comp why not just give chest and key every 5 lvl of comp and 10 over time or even random chance for reaching the top 5 for random non rare weapons not only increase reasons to play comp but encouraging new players to test it out some time as it can help them improve by failure or team helping them just a thought

I am a tryhard spy/engie main, and my opinion is... mostly positive. I have my bad moments but most of tge time I just get good games. The quality of some are fuckin' GODlike and impossibly close. The reason I actually prefer tf2, a ten year old free FPS, over overwatch. An almost brand new competetive FPS with over 26 classes and gameplay that is always balanced. Too balanced.

Guys did you know in upward go in bots practice use your console type sv_cheats 1 and then go in noclip mode you will need to go outside the map and you will see a rectangular thing go in there and boom it's the mym backstage

I still have one issue with it. I'm not a fan of the whole matchmaking format. You queue up, you get into a game, you play through it, the game ends, and then you're back at the matchmaking menu waiting for another game and chances are you won't be matched up with the same players.

Whenever I play a game, I like to be able to just play multiple rounds without interruption, and being able to play multiple games with the same random people who happened to be on at the time allowed for players to discus strategy, share tips and tricks, and just get to know each other. That's what I liked about servers. Unfortunately, though, we don't have that anymore. Not because VALVe got rid of them entirely but because a majority of them shut down and a majority of the remaining ones are kinda, well, bad.

If you don’t like this just go to the old orange box server and Boom your problems are done (I have it on Xbox) it’s because Valve doesn’t give a shit about the console

Am I the only one who agrees with this? I joined tf2 after the MYM update, but I love the game as it is, and if pressing the button to join a game had an 80% chance o shove me into a server where nobody cares about the objective, and are all just messing around, I would have never gotten into tf2.

2 years later and meet your match has finally been fixed

After all the bugs were slowly removed, my only problem with it is the long intro of the match

IDC what is better than other pub or casual, I just want the finding game system faster! Like it took me 15 mins to find 1 game

I was thinking that the mess of different players of different skill in casual is bad

In retrospect... MyM was actually a real low point for TF2 that I don't think it's ever recovered from. The quickplay system worked better and valve competitive should exist alongside it... Casual matchmaking is a joke, they should have kept pubs.

this update pretty much killed special delievry and all alternate gamemodes unless you want to click on your medal for 3 hours
before you could just get into any server with 2 clicks
fuck this update it ruined the game for me and now i can't even play the maps i want to play on cuz it'll take 5 hours to find a server and even that would be empty
