Achilles, to his company of soldiers, was what the Danes used to refer to as a "Sword Lord", a man that lead his warriors to great battles of victory, plunder, and glory. The 3 things that any true warrior lives for. Great battles of victory for stories of greatness. Plunder to entertain yourself in the downtime between fights. And glory to cement your name in the history books, for eternity to hear about.

Would love to see you three ladies react to "Lawrence of Arabia". Peter O'Toole, who stars here as Priam, king of Troy, plays the part of Lawrence when he was a MUCH younger man. It is a classic movie that you shouldn't be afraid of.

Menelaus was a Spartan the greatest Greek fighting nation and he himself was a great warrior. Paris was just a selfish immature child and the cause of everything. Agamemnon just took advantage of everyone including his brother for the sake of his own power.

"If they ever tell my story, let them say I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die.
Let them say I lived in the time of Hector tamer of horses. Let them say, I lived in the time of Achilles." - Odysseus

Unfamiliar with the story, is there something to the fact that Achilles tore out the arrows that hit him in the torso but left the one in his heel? This might have caused the men to errantly believed he died only from the heel shot? Was that in the original story?

Paris is the worst character ever, especially when compared to Hector..and Bana is the most underrated while Bloom's the most overrated. The actors were chosen well. haha

Hector should have given Achiles Paris after the cousin died, it's only fair :)
Hector's wife would have killed that princess after Hector was killed. It's just funny how they accept that dooming relationship.

I hate what this movie did to Menelaus. He was Helens choice to marry. The only reason she goes with Paris in the story is Aphrodite herself basically bewitches her.

The Trojans were Hellenic Asia Minor races. They spoke the same language and believed in the same Gods. In reality it was not a conflict of Greeks with another people, but of Greek sexes among themselves:The Achaeans who dominated central Greece centered in Mycenae and Greco-Pelasgian races of Asia Minor (Ionians, Phrygians, Chares) who dominated Asia Minor centered in Troy. A kind of civil war that is, as happened later in the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta

The story goes that his mother, Thetis, made him invulnerable by dipping him in the River Styx while he was still an infant. Thing was he was held by the ankle as he was dipped in, he was all but invincible bar his ankle which was his only weak point. According to legend, the Trojan prince Paris killed Achilles by shooting him in the heel with an arrow.

Thank you for calling out a good man when there is one. It's really important for men to know what a good man is, and not just being told what it's not; today, people are so busy telling us what we can't do, or that we're all horrible, instead of showing us what kind of man earns your love and respect.

i dont understand why some people empathise more on paris, hector and priam. after all, they're sacraficing innocent trojan men for their love and their family. if they were true good leaders they shouldn't have done that. even though agamemnon is using the situation for his own greed.

According to mythology, the arrow that pierced Achilles' heel was released from the bow of Paris, but it is said to have been guided by Apollo himself. According to some, Achilles was killed by Apollo himself or an arrow of Apollo who took the form of Paris. Because Achilles removed Apollo's head from the statue in the movie we saw.
