Odd to me, comparing a 911 to a Lexus.
ОтветитьLexus has been the #1 brand in reliability/quality for decades now, going back to the opening of the company back 1989, with very few exceptions.
If you want the ultimate in reliability/quality, then Lexus is always the answer. Period.
(Also, the Lexus LC500 is the best GT car ever made.)
Porsche 911's are absurdly overpriced.
You get WAY more for your money with the LEX.
Flip side though, when buying new, that means the Porsche will likely hold it's value better. Though, I'd imagine most of the retained value advantage would be negated by the increased maintenance and repair costs
Die beiden kann man nicht
Vergleichen.Porsche der
Supersport Wagen.
Lexus das Beste im Anzug
eines Sportwagens.
Porsche für den kurzen Spaß, Lexus für den langen.
Der Lexus ist so perfekt das
er alles kann,er ist aber ein
Gleiter, und das ist gut so .
If you care about reliability and resale go LC, if you care about driving excitement and performance go 911. If it was my daily and I was over 60 I’d buy the Lexus. I’m under 60 and wanted a sports car for weekends and vacations and it needed to have a manual transmission for pure driving fun.
ОтветитьI bought a 2005 BMW X5 V8 for $65,000 and 100,000 miles later, 12 years old, it was worth $2,000. The maintenance alone on it was $30,000. Now I drive a 2020 4Runner for $47,000 and in five years the maintenance on it so far has been nothing. The bottom line is that due to maintenance costs a Japanese car is going to cost you 50% of what the equivalent German car costs, and you will not be spending near huge time waiting for your car to be fixed with a Japanese car. Personally I think Gerrman and Japanese engineering is virtually equivalent, but the Japanese have championed quality control principles and aggressively applied them. The Japanese are not wrecked by unions and other social constructs that undermine capitalism. The Germans build expensive designs and then set their prices to handle the huge costs. Now I am Contemplating a LC500 vs a Porsche 911. Is the analogy the same ??
ОтветитьThe Porsche is a Proven street and track car it's a Legend for a reason and I don't think you should be comparing the two
ОтветитьIn one's 20s and 30s- definitely a Porsche 911 or any other exotic sports car, when one is in one's 40s and older- definitely the LC 500, Bentley, Aston Martin, or Mercedes S Class. Most things in life come with the age in which one is and as I age the fast, noisy, uncomfortable vehicles appeal to me less and less save for maybe a 15-30 minute drive.
ОтветитьI'll take both
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI love both cars, but how you can say that the interior of the LC500, one of the most beautiful and perfectly crafted interiors available in the world, is "outdated". In fact, it's ahead of most luxury cars. On the other hand, having been a Porsche owner and having recently driven an LC500, I have to agree about the steering feel. But the Porsche is a luxury sports car; the LC500 is a luxury touring car. Apples and oranges, in my opinion.
ОтветитьThanks for the pleasant, informative comparison. I am a former 911 owner, currently in the market for a new LC 500, and your review confirms my opinion of the two, and why I am shopping for a LC500. Thank you, and best wishes!
ОтветитьMy good friend just got the 2024 911. Amazing car, but for whatever the reason it reminds me of one of those nice homes you see in a big American a suburbs, looking like everything else on the road. The LC500 is bespoke, like a one off masterpiece that’s not replicated.

ОтветитьNot really in the same price range or even car category (gt vs sports). Depends what's important in a car to you. Engine sound: LC. Comfort: LC: Handling: 911. Unique: LC. Interior: LC. Resale: 911, though the LC will very likely increase in the future and overtake a low end 911 due to rarity, especially when they stop producing the LC. Cost to maintain: LC. Speed: 911. Tech: LC. Road trips: LC. Storage: Tie. Will get strangers bothering you at gas stations: LC. Looks: Depends on color choice/spec. The best spec'd LC blows away any 911 Carrera
ОтветитьThe correct answer is bmw m3
ОтветитьThe Porsche 911 is one of the top sports vehicles ever and presently made! However, that being said the Porsche 911 is not a luxury GT cruiser and it was never meant to be that either; it is a pure drivers' vehicle. Meanwhile the Lexus LC 500 is a GT luxury veiled meant to be driven leisurely with some serious added performance. Not to be intentionally insulting to anyone, but I would say that an older driver will appreciate the LC 500 more, while the Porsche 911 is generally meant for a more 'energitic' driver.
ОтветитьIn Australia, an LC500 convertible is quoted at $230,000 (Australian dollars) and a reasonably speced Porsche 911 Targa 4S would be around $450,000. The difference is obviously created by the rediculous luxury car tax and it is fair to say that there's no differences in these two cars can justify the 2x price difference, the reality is, in the rich suburbs of Sydney or Melbourne, Lexus cars are not at the same prestige levels of Porsche.
ОтветитьLexus make the best cars in the world ❤️🏴👍
ОтветитьGreat review, in my humble opinion the interior of the LC is far superior than the 911. LC feels just wonderful. A+ in ergonomics from Lexus. 911s a
Have never been as comfortable. I’ve driven both cars cross country, LC was much more comfortable after driving 9-10 hrs per day.
If 911 is a 4 for comfort, what is a 1, its trunk?
ОтветитьI love a targa
ОтветитьGreat review
ОтветитьBrilliant review. Thanks David. Hope to see more German v Lexus/Toyota reviews
ОтветитьYou need a rating for which car picks up better quality chicks.
ОтветитьLove the 911, but completely dumb purchase in north america. for germany, the perfect car. I don't like the look of the LC, has not aged well at all. I have a current M4, love it, but it suffers from the same problem as the 911... its dumb in the USA. Cars that do 190 are not optimized for USA driving... no car really is, maybe a Rolls??
ОтветитьLexus reliability and style all day long! You will be in the shop way more often with any German car, including the 911!
ОтветитьEs sind zwei super Autos
vom Charakter her nicht zu
vergleichen.Der Lexus ist
Langstrecken tauglich und
man steigt nach 1000 Km
aus und fühlt sich erholt.
Der Porsche ist mehr das
Spaß Auto für Harz gesottene.Beide sind in
ihrem Charakter perfekt.
Der Lexus ist für mich das
bessere und schönere
Auto.
LC500 it is. Now I just have to save up for it 😅
ОтветитьUnfortunately quality perception doesn't come with paint quality and the panel gaps or allignment as an engineer
It is on quality of working mechanical parts
Wow - could not disagree with nearly every point he raised. The worst car I've EVER owned - out of 30+ vehicles - was a Porsche 996. Horrible build quality, even worse service from the dealership. Abhorrent repair costs, and parts costs are insane. From an engineering perspective, it is a mechanic's nightmare, with the engine needing to be dropped for even routine minor repairs. I swore off Porsche at that point.. 1980s and earlier Porsches were masterpieces, but anything since then are fugly and not worth half their asking price.
ОтветитьWatched this again. I have the Porsche Panamera E-hybrid and the LC 500 convertible. Great combination, tend to do more daily driving in the Panamera on all electric.
ОтветитьI value my time and health more than anything. Money is not that important when we’re discussing $100-150K for a car. For me the Porsche is a no go. I know plenty of owners who have multiple problems with their cars ranging from oil pump failures, inadequate A/C output and uncooperative manual transmission shifting. The low seat height in a 911 is also an issue for many men over 6 feet tall and 60 years of age. Try to elegantly climb out of a 911 in a cramped parking lot while wearing business or formal attire. If you’re around 5’8” - 5’10” tall, thin and young you may enjoy the Porsche. Get the Porsche out of your system while young, because it may not be an option later in life.
ОтветитьThe porches are just not appealing at all
ОтветитьI would vote for Lexus for many reasons, but I would add one more: exclusivity!
911's are from so many generations that all look alike and so many different versions and "special editions" that it makes the car way too common for the price you pay.
It's a funny question because on performance alone, the 911. It does what a sports car does.
For EVERYTHING else I'm saying the LC500.
Thank you for the review. I've been an owner of the LC500 now for four years and have some very strong feelings for it. They are special cars. Special enough that when I ponder parting with mine, I go for a drive and instant recall just how comfortable and wonderful of a car it is. As others (and you) have mentioned, I view 911's a bit more on the sports car side of the house, where as the LC500 is by far the GT. Although, many have been surprised after some "spirited" group drives. I drive my LC to and from Carweek every year (2600 miles) and it's one of the first cars (out of the 100+ I've owned), that I literally could drive all day and not get fatigued. I can also confirm highway trips seeing 30-33 mpg's out of this fabulous 471hp V8 is not unheard of. My LC garners more compliments than my Ferrari F430. I'm a fan of Porsche, but overall, I feel this is a better car all around and most certainly not as common as 911s. It just checks more boxes and is certainly worth the $25k-35K LESS than a base 911 these days. 👍
ОтветитьLiving in Vancouver...lucky (888). The exotic car section just off Fir near Granville Island is one of my favorite hangouts.
ОтветитьThats a Targa 4 or Targa 4S.....which is it?
ОтветитьI love everyone who buy non-lexus expensive cars so that Lexus car price stay relatively low and keep great quality.
ОтветитьSimple U want a car that don't break down get the Lexus. If U like wasting Ur money for a car U will never know how to push to it limits and waste money buy the 911.
LC500 is rare
911 is like a clit, every cunt has one! 🤣🤣🤣😜
I was hoping you'd give in terms of longevity, I really don't want a car that I can't keep for a minimum of say 10 years.
ОтветитьI do love the road feel on my 911 C4 (the ride quality is due to the tires, you really need to use the Michelin tires that they recommend for each model), I enjoy my Pilot Sport A/S4's and that's after nearly 200,000 miles that i have put on my 911 C4 in the past 22 years, so YES it is WORTH IT, IT DOES HOLD ITS VALUE, and EVEN NOW, 22 years later ITS STILL A FANTASTIC AND DAILY USEABLE VEHICLE, The winner must be the 911. P.S. NOTHING STOCK BEATS A 2022, 2023 or 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S (The end).
ОтветитьVery solid review/comparison, and not just because i have owned a 914, 924, 944, 944 Turbo, 928 GTS, 911 C2 and now a 911 C4 that i have owned for 22 years, and then on the JDM side, I have owned a variety of Datsun/Nissan, Mazda, as well as to many Toyota's to list them all, including the 1985 4Runner and 1993 Land Cruiser that STILL RUN and park next to my Land Rover Range Rover Discovery (Which is probably one the the most infuriating vehicles i have ever owned), bottom line, Great job and this is why everyone tests their vehicles against Porsches 911's
ОтветитьI am comparing the AMG SL 43 (4 cylinder turbo hybrid) , the AMG can put accelerate it based on independent testing and corners better vs the LC500 convertible.
ОтветитьToyota works on isolating the road imperfections and they do it so well ! Why do you want something less refined or engineered????
ОтветитьI'll take the Porsche
ОтветитьLex ❤
