Bluebird Farm in Peapack, NJ is home to many alpacas.
Some alpaca facts:
🦙 smaller than llamas
🦙 friendlier than llamas
🦙 communal poopers
🦙 social
🦙 smaller and more pointed ears than a llama
🦙 lifespan is 15-20 years
🦙 gestation period is 11.5 months 😱
Bluebird Farm offers a few options for coming to visit the alpacas. For $10 you can take a tour, feed the alpacas, and get in some good pictures. For $20 (what my group chose) you can take the tour, enjoy the photo opportunities, feed the alpacas AND take them for a walk on their halter and leash!
This is a family friendly adventure. As always with animals, caution should be remembered, but the alpacas are friendly and the staff is attentive. An additional option to the tour and halter options mentioned above is the $5 option to accompany someone walking an alpaca. I imagine this is a good option if you have a child. The child would be able to be the official “walker” with you right by their side.
