I missed the live stream, but it vent on air at approx. 3:30 a.m. in my neck of the woods. :)
- ouch, one of those days where you wish you had stayed in bed with the pillow pulled over your head! 😖
I hope the drying goes well.
ОтветитьDamn, that’s bad luck there. I wonder if some bags of silica granules in the dash might help absorb moisture? Like in the instruments and fuse box?

ОтветитьBummer, man. Hope things get better. On the Syncro: might want to pull out the relays and dry them. I know in my bay, any water that leaked in there went into the relays, and the base faces upwards. So, any water would pool in the covers and corrode the insides. Not good!
Anyways, good work. Looking forward to the single cab resto.
Great to see a Descend sticker.
ОтветитьSorry you had such a freaky bummer day, but stay positive tomorrow will be better
ОтветитьI had a Similar Water Issue with an Old Dodge Dart Swinger Years ago. Fortunately It was summer time and I let it sit and dry out completely in the HOT Sun for a few Days. Didn't have any Problems with it . Best of Luck on This.
ОтветитьNice little walk through, where will we be able to find details about this?
ОтветитьTime to hook up the portable dehumidifier for the Syncro. Coupla' days with it all closed up and everything will be dry..
ОтветитьFill it with rice! Works for phones. Ha ha!
ОтветитьMan! Give him a break! Things can only get better JC! Ps: loving the Van Life t-shirt! Jp
ОтветитьI'd say pull everything in the fuse/relay box so the connections can dry out and check the relays for shorts with a meter after they're dry. Could pick up some of that granular reusable water-absorber and put cloth bags of it in various places.
Ответитьdang that is a pretty rough couple of events! :( atleast the 13 window was there to make it a little better
ОтветитьIt would be worth the money to go rent a dehumidifier and put in the syncro for a day or two. Or you could use a portable ac if you have access to one.
ОтветитьThat's my old 13w. I sold it to the guy in Oklahoma. A friend of mine found it in the woods in Virginia and pulled it out, brought it to WV, and sold it to me. I think a tree had fallen on it at some point, I jacked the roof back out on it. It was really caved in when I got it. All of the windows had been painted over with silver roofing paint, you can probably still see traces of it around the door window frames and the around the popouts. In addition to the school bus logo it says Art Institute on the drivers side. I went through the brakes and suspension, lowered it with flipped spindles and a 68 bug trans, and built a new 1641 single port engine, repadded and covered the front seats, and added the safaries. All of this was done in the 2013-14 time frame. I just patched the floors up in it(front outer sections, and cargo right outer section) to make it a driver. Unlike most bus people, I'm kind of partial to bench seat buses, and always wished that one was a non-walkthru. The wife and I actually drove that bus from WV to Daytona, Florida one year to attend the No Dough Bus Show.
Thanks for the memories! I'm now working on a '65 Kombi. Best of luck on the Synchro.
Agree about the walk-through. Much better. Despite the older VWs being smaller overall, they are more spacious inside than the newer ones. Not having that front bench helps. Fingers crossed for the Vanagon.
ОтветитьFind a cheap(ish) dehumidifier. Stick it inside with the windows up. You'll be amazed at the amount of water!
ОтветитьFlooded up to the top of the dash? Hm, vwheritage will smile when you order all paddings and covers new. The smell will never go out - remember how old it is and
how much dust and dirt ges into a car in this time. Good luck with it!
