Who Needs and Power Exercises? Power Strength and Speed are Different!
Just because you can lift a lot of weight or you are fast does not mean that you can generate power…
All right, so there is a big misconception out there that if you continue to lift weights that somehow you will develop power or that you really don’t have to lift weights because you are already fast.
We will start with the first one. Lifting weights makes you strong. Yes, but power is not the same thing as being strong. Let me explain it with the force velocity curve but I’m going to add a twist. For those of you that have watched a few of my videos before, you may have seen me talk about the force velocity curve before but pay attention here because Im going to break it down a little differently.
Keep in mind that just because your sport will specialize in one area, does not mean that you should forget or not be proficient in the other areas. Max strength helps develop max speed. Speed/strength helps develop strength speed.
