It's weird that so many digital art habits translate to unconscious movements when you guys paint traditionally lol, I do acrylic work but I guess traditional techniques (smudging, moving the canvas, mixing paint) don't really come through when I drawn on my ipad
ОтветитьDope, I love using oils the wet look they provide especially on portraits, awesome work man
ОтветитьGlad that someone mentioned that oil paintings ARE hard to handle. Just because it looks easy doesnt mean that it really is.
At least until you worked some time with oils. Then you learn some tricks, try some different mediums, find your own best way to paint and from then it gets way more easier.
I use acrylic painting because oil is to expensive for me. Oof.
Edit: Good job, its so surreal to see someone improve from the first day to the last. Painting can be really hard in general.
Any else who's a traditional oil painter get super edgy watching this? Josh the delight of oils and the fact they don't dry quickly is the wonder, jump in you don't need to be so carful, if you go wrong you can paint over it, I'm not sue how the course is taught but using bigger brushes and then finishing with the smaller brushes would have helped (as the other teacher mentioned)- don't be afraid to experiment - I know its a class but it's an art class so I'm sure theres room to wiggle. Anyway good for you trying out a new medium =). Also usually I find your voice and video style really soothing, its only this one- because you can tell how nervous you are to paint- hope some of my tips help
ОтветитьDang Josh you're super cool! You just pick up whatever and do an awesome job. Kicking butt and taking names.
ОтветитьLol 😆 my comment was scrolled past in the video. I feel honored!
Dang Auto correct 😂...
This guy need more subs
ОтветитьbOI U PAINT IN UMBERS i am so triggered
ОтветитьYour voice is very relaxing you should try some art asmr
ОтветитьGlad I found your channel :) It's great that you started painting again after so long. I had the opposite where I've been drawing traditional since I was 4 years old and then started doing digital in college: That took a while to get used to. Now, I find myself balancing with both in various styles since I like each one in different ways.
Ответитьwow such a great result, I really need to learn more about shadows 👀😳🔝
ОтветитьHis facial expressions in the thumbnails are anazing
Ответить"This is the Way" !!
ОтветитьI just recently found the channel and this man is crazy inspiring. I’ve been doing digital art for quite a while using my iPad and this inspired me to go back to paper after a bit. It was a great experience to go back to the old way.
ОтветитьI've always done traditional,so I feel you with the shock of how hard it is.I have tried digital several times,I think its harder,ig thats why there's different ways to do art for different ppl.But ye fr those brushes sure do "have a mind of their own" lol
ОтветитьWatching your videos makes me feel soo calm, I used to love traditional and actually I was alittle better than I am with digital. I've stopped drawing and painting because it makes me super anxious but painting is so much fun and It feels super good and relaxing when you don't have the mindset of it being perfect
Ответитьok with the simple sphere and square shape outta the way, let's see you paint a legitimate still life. Jesus, anyone can't paint a sphere or square in lighting.
ОтветитьI would advice against washing your oil brushes in the same place where you prepare food. Some paints contain heavy metals and the solvents can be carcinogenic. Very cool video though, good of you to try something different. I'm actually thinking about getting into procreate next year
ОтветитьThe way you feel about traditional art is the same way i feel about digital
Ответить"Traditional" or just real painting lol artists nowadays act like drawing on paper only existed centuries ago
ОтветитьWAX ON + WAX OFF = ART OF MASTERY
ОтветитьAnyone else think that painting was Printed and just taped onto a wooden canvas in the beginning?
ОтветитьCan you show me the stand on which to place the plank?
ОтветитьOMG! He is so handsome and tellented
ОтветитьActually thought he was being sarcastic and that his painting was a printed picture.
Ответитьwatts atelier online looks like a joke compared to this
ОтветитьI'm having exactly the opposite struggle. Been doing traditional art since ever i remember myself. I went to art school for 8 years and got bachelors degree in arts. Oil painting, drawing, charcoil drawings. Now I'm trying to pick up digital painting and I'm struggling so much, everything seems so strange. Also it is a big hit to my ego. Gotta practice and practice again, i guess!
Ответитьi need to see more of this JOSH
pllls do some oil paint asmr
I BET THAT WILL KICK OUR EARS OFF
Ah, love you. I don't really do digital (Yet) but have learnt so much from you watching your videos. I paint in oils and acrylic and mixed media, I draw and compose with photoshop. I have mastered so many techniques and seeing you try to expand your repertoire has been very enjoyable. Everything in the end comes down to attitude. Keep up the good work and learn to embrace the fear, there is much it can teach us.
Ответитьso glad i found this account
ОтветитьYou have a very pleasant voice! 💕
ОтветитьFor $2,000.00,....its a hard pass. I think I will just take a course at a local college and pocket the difference. Yowza!
ОтветитьDoes anyone know of a digital or illustration focused program of similar depth / pricing to this Evolve one? I really like the format of this one I'm just not super interested in traditional painting.
ОтветитьI remember that when I was a kid I learn many mediums of traditional art including pencil drawing, acrylic painting, a bit of oil painting, watercolour painting, oil pastel, chalk, charcoal drawing, clay and more. I also learned a lot of techniques and styles along the way. It's alot of fun because despite looking terrible looking at it now, it reminds me of the desire to learn new things. That's how I found out about anime and digital art as well. That stopped for a while when I took art as a subject and stuck onto doing ink illustrations and digital illustrations. Of course I got bored for a while which made me go back to making a mess with acrylic and watercolour paints at some point. Now studying in polytechnic, I learned alot of things about digital media; tools like Photoshop, illustrator, premier Pro, and even after effects, learn alot about design, composition, colour, typography, animating, editing and more. It was great. Mmm what I was trying to say is that it is ok to mess up or fail. Because that'll end up to help you in the future. It's also nice to see the progress from how you start and where you are now. Well I'm still afraid of messing up but I know that through my mistakes, I can do better!!! Ganbare famn
Ответитьdigital artist: "traditional is so hard!"
traditional artist: "digital is so hard!"
hate cleaning brushes team
Ответитьwear gloves and possibly a gas mask. Cadmium red, Titanium white, lead white, cobalt blue... those aren't just arbitrary names. It's named after the poisonous element that makes the pigment.
Ответитьur so cool i liked you
ОтветитьBlending is probably a bad idea with oil paints.
ОтветитьIt's sad to see traditional art dying and artist losing the fundamentals of art and being too reliant on tech
ОтветитьOil painitng in a closed studio without ventilation is very dangerous because of the fumes, so be careful oil painitng indoors without proper air circulation. :)
Ответитьi could imagine him saying: WHERES CTRL Z?!!!?
ОтветитьMy first assignment was so messy I thought I would get thrown out. lol I just started it after seeing ads, Nianiani, and Mithril's videos. I didn't get thrown out and apparently it wasn't as bad as I thought. Working on the gradients now.
ОтветитьI started Evolve a couple of weeks ago. Gradients are hard at first, but it was pointed out to me that we will be practicing them a lot. I have gotten better, so there is something to repetition. :) Enjoyed your thoughts on it.
ОтветитьI subscribed because you switched to traditional art.
ОтветитьI think I saw a gray paint tube? gray paint? But starting out it looks great! But that gray paint was something...
ОтветитьI'd really like something like Evolve for digital art.
Feels hard to find good courses that have enough content and don't cost endlessly.
