Holy cow the level of quality has gone way up since I was into trains as a kid twenty plus years ago. At this point it would be a choice based on price between these two.
ОтветитьI like the ScaleTrains paint color. I’m one to weather my locomotives so ScaleTrains already has the fade to it.
ОтветитьOk😊
ОтветитьOne of the best in-depth look at both locomotives manufacturer's Ive watched , koodos . Thanks for sharing, cheers.
ОтветитьInterMountain are slight better mainly in Navajo transitional energy and CN livery
Shell looks bigger and tinted cab windows have more accurate looks with detailed bogies correct size ditch lights and sturdy hand rails.
👍👍Wonderful comparison! I'd be happy with either one, both are great engines.🚂🚂
Ответитьi disagree; scale trains got paint color more accurate , scale trains got better more durable detail and better looking; look at front coupler on scale trains; rusty just like real thing, the grille detail is better on scale train, the mu hoses are more accurate on the scale train and on and on.
ОтветитьI give the edge to scale trains because I’m bias
ОтветитьHad Tyco when I was a kid, mid 60's. If I remember correctly, and I do, they had sprung suspension. They were pretty much scale as, opposed to what we have today. Yes I could be wrong. But, it was different than what we have today. I have HO scale stock and the detail is lacking today compared to the set I had in the 60's.
ОтветитьI am having problem with my Intermountain ES44AC. The issue is the throttle will not respond. I did do several CV8 resets and still will not work. the sounds work and respond to throttle but again will not move. Am I doing anything wrong? Thank you for your time.
ОтветитьScale trains and Intermountain both nailed the colors. Scale trains made they wethered yellow and Intermountain did a fresh right out of the shop yellow
ОтветитьThank you James. Fair, unbiased reviews.
ОтветитьI think the ditch lights on the scale trains version are too far apart
ОтветитьVERY GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION AND TIME I APPRECIATE YOU AND YOUR EFFORT. JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA YOUR SUBSCRIBER IN THE EAST.👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьWhether you have an Intermountain or Scale Trains you have a top quality product on your layout. Both are excellent
ОтветитьHi James, I"m Luis Urbiera and My questions is, what ir hoy companies we're perfect?
ОтветитьI bought a C 44- 9 w Intermountain Locomotive and the headlight ,ditch lights and rear lights lasted two weeks, now the don't turn on. What happened ? I live here in Chile and I don't know what to do for repair them.
ОтветитьPlease do more of these dude! This was an awesome video!
ОтветитьScale train's coloration is what union pacific railroad paint looks like after a few years of use
ОтветитьThat flag on the Intermountain model just... nope. Besides that, they both seem like great models! I’d probably go with the Scaletrains model. The paint gives it a bit more of a used look, which I prefer and would probably make weathering easier. Sounded more crisp as well.
ОтветитьIn regards to slow motor control, is there anyway to measure the speed of speed step one? I still think the speed step one is too fast, thou constant.
ОтветитьHi James, when will you do a new review? My name is Lus Urbieta and I love your videos.
Ответить@jlwii2000 you should another updated one of these .. now that the new run of IM are coming out next month
ОтветитьBoth are so amazing especially when as a kid Tyco was a typical brand and I was lucky to get one even if it had a Spirit of 76 paint job, yikes! I have several scale train n gauge locos and I love em!!!
ОтветитьScaleTrains unfortunately got the yellow paint wrong, and it looks weird. Besides that part, the detail is fantastic
ОтветитьIf Ev serythinh was perfect then things eill be boring and we don't want to have boring boring models. Luid Urbieta
ОтветитьIntermountain gets the win-win!
ОтветитьTKS U ALWAYS DO A GREAT JOB COMPERISON AND WORKING ON DIFFERENT STUFF ON TRAINS.
ОтветитьAre the real locomotives fitted with tinted windows?
ОтветитьDefinitely like the scale trains model as I have never gotten a loco from inter mountain that ran right . I have had to return each one to the company for repair.
ОтветитьWhat was Intermountain thinking when they did the flag decals 😂 absolutely awful.
ОтветитьScaletrains being the rookie in the business seem to be growing a lot in popularity in a very competitive industry. I have several of their Diesel engines now and several dozen of their rolling stock. They definitely have a good concept when designing these locos for production. I have many Intermountain diesels as well and have a hard time picking one over the other. However with that said if I had to pick one it would be Scaletrains. Both companies produce good quality products.
ОтветитьI have a intermountain csx t4 and I just love it
ОтветитьHonestly I think the intermountain engine looks bigger. I would have to give this to the Scaletrains, the flag on the side of the intermountain bothers me. I do wish the Scaletrains had some things the IM did, but I think overall ST is the way to go. Nice video James
ОтветитьIntermountain
ОтветитьI like the intermountain HO Scale UP
ОтветитьFred 5
ОтветитьThe flag on the scale trains was perfect
ОтветитьThanks for the comparo. But you didn't review retail pricing. Are they close? That could be the deciding factor.
For vents, I care more about see-through or a sense of depth than correct size. And you never showed the top of the rear venting (radiator intake?).

Why dont you show us both locomotives running a freight train at crawl speed and normal speed?
Thats what I want to see most, how the loco runs, sounds, and the presence it has on your layout.
IMO,a locomotive has to have a "presence" and part of that is how it runs.
For example in N or HO gauge,I love the way KATO locomotives crawl....the steady, consistent crawl at low speed.
Some N and HO manufacturers still have a herky jerky crawl which is totally unrealistic to me.
cost difference?
ОтветитьEven the knucle is rusty lol
ОтветитьScale trains nailed it. Ive been on hundreds of up engines and the paint is spot on as far as road/ fleet use.. The other one might be the correct paint out the factory but scale trains version is more realistic
ОтветитьThe biggest letdown of Intermountain is the Flag, and the biggest letdown of Scale Trains is the paint and glue spots.
ОтветитьThe scale trains logos are better and more accurate I think. Look at the front logo on the door. It's better hand rails on scale trains too. Besides the lights, I think scale trains still have a real good run on this.
