I don’t think the P47 was in danger of being phased out. It was a work horse and made an excellent ground attack platform. It freed up P51s for escort duty and had an excellent career as a ground attack platform being able to absorb damage that would take out the other planes.

アメリカやイギリスの戦闘機は弾薬を大量に搭載できたからそんな事をしていたのだろうけれど、こういう例外の話も聞くと少し感動するね。

The P-47 was inroduced to Service in November 1942. The P-38 was introduced to Service in July 1941. The P-51 was introduced to Service in January 1942 (RAF). How were the P-38 and P-51 "Newer" fighters?

あるかもしれないが、地上についてから銃撃したという証言はあるにせよ、でたらめもいいところ。
女子供にも容赦なく機銃掃射をやり、子供が死んだという記録は数々ある。
ニールカービーは脱出時には既に日本軍機の銃撃で重傷を負っていて助からなかったというのが定説。
