it's a genius joke. The punchline is really simple but the build up feels never ending so no matter how much of a let down in the area of complexity the punch line is, it still surprises you and makes you laugh almost out of relief for the built up 'punchline anxiety' if you will.

The "sometimes I feel like a spider, even though I'm a moth" line is a nice way to remind the audience of the premise of the joke (which he only mentioned prior at the very beginning) right before he delivers the punchline.

This is so oldschool. The ramble jokes are a fucking genius weapon in British humour, that's why American's and Aussies love it so much, as it's so foreign to them. The only people that can truly pull it off though are the Brits, Canadians and Kiwis. This is pure gold.

Norm's story about this is that Conan's last guest couldn't show up, so he announced that Norm would be back after the break. Norm was like "I got a 20 second joke about a moth", and Conan was like "We have 7 minutes to fill."

He's just the best. I laughed the whole way through. He is the best..

For Norm, he never really cared if the joke had a great punchline or not. He just enjoyed the joke’s telling, the journey with his audience. And as the journey became more and more enjoyable, the audience stopped waiting for a killer punch line so much, because they already were laughing and amused by the journey to the punch line.

Well, eventually, the punch line is delivered, and never really funny. But, you are never disappointed, either, because you already got your money’s worth, had your fun, and the punch line is only the cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae, which is really nothing but a visual effect when compared to the ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel, et cetera.

Is not the punch line that makes his jokes funny. Is the while story, from beginning to end.
