[FFXIV] Fastest Rathalos Mount Farming Method

Thanks for the guide :) When I saw I needed 50 scales I was like "yeaaaah forget it... got other stuff to do..." , but now... this actually looks doable...

I got all my stuff from him when the fight was new and even back then we quickly figured out that directly destroying the tail is not a good idea and to focus on Rathalos first to get in more dmg before the tail destruction, but him going back up once was unavoidable, just due to the maximum dmg at lvl 70.

Gotta say, thing I figured on release that helped me, that first faze "If he looks at you, just run away" might not be the best advice, I just opt for the "Stand on his left foot", if he does a small steppy step, that's the only time you have to move from there, just move out before his jump and you're good. This just makes it less messy to chase and stuff because he spends more time turning to you and he doesn't charge far when he does. Might not work so well on casters when they're needing to cast

Me and 3 friends decided to farm the 50 runs and 4 whistles dropped within 35 runs. No I'm not joking and no I still can't believe it either.
I think all four of us combined ran out of a lifetime worth of luck there lmao

They dropped the number of scales used to be 99

The very run that I said the whistle is like a .001% drop to a new person joining the PF is the very run it dropped. Needless to say, I passed due to shame and the newbie got it on their first run.

On that note, this grind really isn't that bad. You don't have to get every scale in a day, and you get an average of 15 scales an hour.

i feel like ppl in the comment section or ff14 players in general dont know what a "real" grinding is... being worried about 50 kills... thats nothing. i see that a lot in ff14, ppl say something is the biggest grind and its just not, at least not to my "standards" from other mmos. in other mmos, im used to grind things 500 times or even 1000 times with no rewards and no "totems" or "scales" to get it eventually. now, playing ff14, grinding in this game is like a walk in the park for me, its amazing.

btw, dont take offense to it, this is just my experience and its actually a good thing, that ppl think things like rathalos is grindy, its good to have a game that doesnt force you to spend hundreds of hours to get something.

We got behemut in World, the better boss, you guys got saddled by the bitch boi rathalos. I can kill him with one swing of my hammer to the head 👍👍👍

You don't need to mount Rathalos btw... Just hit the mammoth so hard that he hits the floor by the time Rathalos flies off.

interesting... now the main question is... how can I import my mhw character into ffxiv?
also, this rathalos died with his tail attached to his body,,, I always cut the tail early on

The whistle does not exist, i repeat the whistle does not exist people. Anyone coming around to watch this video now don't get your hopes up thinking it's gonna drop within 50 runs. DO NOT BUY THE POOGIE OR THE ORCHESTRION ROLL EITHER. You will get them like 4-5 times by the time you reach 50 High Rank scales.

No one has confirmation, but it definitely has like a 2-3% drop rate compared to like what.. the 5% that a normal mount drop is? It would make sense that they'd make it as much as a Rathalos Ruby carved from the tail drop rate is in Monster Hunter World, which is around 2%. Because they've basically halved the chances from a normal Trial mount, I suspect that's why you also only need 50 of an item rather than the typical 99.

In short, save your scales, and the drop rate is shockingly low. I didn't see it once in my 50 runs where my luck usually nets several mounts from other trials.

If you're having a hard time dodging attacks pick high mobility like Dancer. It's basically just super man diving out of most stuff. I would only use low mobility classes if it's a tank to mitigate damage or you've farmed this bastard for years in MH and know his attack patterns by heart to know where to avoid all attacks.

Playing a class you're comfy with is really the best. A good "off meta" player is better than a terrible "meta" one.

You lost me on "friends" 😭 but as of patch 6.4, I was able to solo this as a MCH - got up to 44 scales until the mount dropped, so ended with dyeable glamour instead 😁

I had the mount dropped on the 47th-48th run, was so disappointed I just passed it and got the few more clears I needed...

Gonna try PF to get 3 players. Hopefully they won’t quit once they get lucky with their roll for the whistle
