Absolutely scrumptious! Kirsten, you have one of those most delightful voices. It makes me hang on every word spoken. And it’s wonderful to see both Jorge and yourself in your beautiful kitchen. My reliable rhubarb grows well in the garden and your recipe will be added to the card collection. Thank you so much for sharing. Carpe Diem! ❤

Kirsten, lovely rhubarb treats! Try not skipping meals, though. Enjoy a lighter breakfast and evening meal (more fruit and vegetables) when you have such scrumptious desserts. "Everything in moderation, including moderation." --Oscar Wilde. We all deserve to treat ourselves well...and if that means cream and cake and a cuppa Earl Grey, make it so. ✨ (also: now singing "Barbaras Rhabarberbar" tongue twister that I recently learned from Feli from Germany's YT channel, haha 🥰)

My mother also always made a compote from leftover rhubarb - for context, I'm an elder millennial living in Wisconsin in the USA with German heritage. Not sure if it had been handed down in the family, or where she got the recipe, but this unlocked a memory for me! Love these recipe videos. ❤

Your cake looks delicious, I really like fancy making that as I love rhubarb. A family thing we did when I was young and still like it was to stew Bramley apples with sugar to make a thick purée and have that with evaporated milk which does look like the tinned one you used with the rhubarb. It is not the same as condensed milk and is made under the name of Carnation, it is a thinner creamy pouring consistency. Love your cooking videos.

Looks yummy. 😋 If you cook sweetened condensed milk, as opposed to regular condensed milk, it is similar to custard. As a child, I liked rhubarb pie, but I was the only one in my family that liked it.

That german bear milk is more or less the same as our English evaporated milk. I think the the german ones are thinner , less concenfrated than our standard evaporated milk. Both products contain only milk.
English condensed milk is quite a different product , its thick and terribly sweet as its milk plus sugar ..
Im a Brit, living in Germany and it took me years to figure out some of these basic ingredients.

My grandma used to make stewed fruit with evaporated milk or custard and we had strawberries with evap and hint sugar in the summer too until single cream really took over in the eighties ;)! . But we used condensed milk in toffee and fudge making occ which is really thick and super sweet.

Thank you Kirsten for sharing those delicious recipes which I am going to try as I have rhubarb growing in my garden right now. My mother used to stew rhubarb and mix the compote into creamy custard, which is similar to your second dish - mmm, I will definitely try that too. Also stewed rhubarb is nice mixed into strawberry jelly. (All my childhood memories returning). PS - I love nice china, and you set a beautiful table. Your dress is so nice and summery too.

You correctly said that UK condensed milk is very sweet! However, the tin of German milk you used looks more like the UK tinned evaporated milk, which is quite different to condensed. It is more liquid and much less sweet xxx
