They did to a degree. Yes by the TTRPG the game should have been darker. What the game hints at, and I will say strongly, is that life is cheep, and the the Corps have no problem paying fir what they want with human lifes.

If they’re going to “push the envelope” then they need to make the game, not so damn buggy at the start, if they can handle their bugs and make half the game that they did before, it will sell like hotcakes

The last tome cyberpunk tried "pushing the envelope"... they spent the next few years fixing the envelope so they didn't go out of business.

Things I'm hoping for:
Crew: whether npc or an online option. Certain decisions and skill sets will affect if they survive the story.
Body: maybe I'm alone, but at least two or three options like buff, average, and skinny for role play.
Life path: why not a few missions unique to your chosen path prior to the start of the main quest line? Could even meet crew member options early on.

Just a few random ideas.

Amping up their social commentary in the game will necessarily come from one or another political viewpoint...and such viewpoints will undoubtably annoy and alienate some section of their audience. Given recent statements about ESG/DEI content, and the hiring of advocates for the same, Cyberpunk Orion has already fallen from 'Preorder' status past 'Buy Immediately' status, to 'Wait and See' status. This pains me a lot because I am a HUGE fan of 2077...but I don't need Woke lectures either explicit or implied in my games.

Unfortunately Sweet baby Inc is involved and will be destroying this game.

I'm honestly not sure it is possible to make a better game, aside from having a bug free launch. The visuals and graphics are already spectacular, the gameplay is unique and incredibly fun, and the story... That ain't ever gonna stop hitting deep.

Dear God am I tired of developers feeling that social commentary is the pinnacle of game design. There is plenty of social commentary baked into the world of Cyberpunk. Relevant societal issues shape the environment and aesthetic and basically everything else. The players can choose to see it for what it is or just go about their day shooting up a violent, drug filled dystopia where you step over dead bodies every day and just be desensitized like everyone else.

Focus on releasing a complete game that is not broken and is enjoyable to play with a compelling story and then the people that care to see the social commentary are free to do so. You can’t make people think and they’re definitely not going to “have their worldview challenged” by a game they weren’t invested in or didn’t even play.

Also if they let Sweet Baby Inc or any similar grifters near the writing of the second game I won’t go anywhere near it.

Just hope that we get a new world and not breath of the wild-tears of the kingdom experience. It would still be awesome but underwelming after a few hours

Cyberpunk as a genre has always will always be political and that’s what makes it core. Now I hope that with the news of the recent writer they’ve hired that the person understands how to write a story first and foremost with political commentary and not just political commentary without story if you hopefully get what I mean. Because cyberpunk is a genre that tells stories and the stories in 2077 were something I loved

We need vehicle customization, weapon customization like skins for regular weapons or pistols like unity and liberty, maybe and id like to have access to AVs and stuff

The game is great, but outside of new endings, there’s no replay ability. Meaning, there’s literally nothing to do. Having most side characters die along the way, killed a lot of the joy for the game with me. The city feels lonely and empty. You can’t do anything with Panam. It would be nice to have more intricate gameplay post main story, I wouldn’t mind more Easter eggs, like a lot more. There are quite a few areas where outside of doing random parkour, there’s no action ability I.e going inside buildings, having interaction with npcs. I think focusing on all this and allowing more gameplay with side characters like Jackie and Panam throughout NC would be preem

Rather than social commentary they should use social issues to make compelling strories not the other way around i feel devs are too focused on THEIR social comentary at the cost of quality stories or narratives wich in turn can devaluate the games as a product and funnily enough has a piece of art even.

One big problem with modern gaming. Is that most of the true gamers dont care to give their two cents, they just enjoy gaming overall and dont feel the need to trash talk. Then you got the self proclaimed experts who didnt even play a PlayStation game or 64 or any of the classics. They went straight to the modern gaming, they are not true gamers. And they believe themselves experts while having having half the experience of true gamers. And since they believe themselves experts, they comment a whole lot and whats gets seen the most, its their two cents bc just developers listen to the loudest comments.

Yeah they definitely under delivered with the overall direction they wanted. I often would dream about living in night city just because how beautiful it is. Thats definitely not what they wanted
