Being open minded is fine but being too open minded to everything causes problems. When you stop calling things what they are to appeal to the overly sensitive, irrationally, illogical people you get chaos and nonsense. A lot of the rap (because most of it isn't hip hop) these days IS trash and not evolution, its just current. What Pharrel and Flylo produce is evolution. They both have a respect for and connection with the music that came before them and they have a connection to culture, most of the rappers now do not and their "music" is a reflection of that void in those connections. It can be dangerous to embrace everything and to make excuses for laziness and incompetence as we are seeing in the world currently.
