Wow this band is really good. I just started listening to them from seeing them at a Mastodon show.

There's something about this band and their sound that is so refined.........it's almost as though they've been around for a hundred years to create this music.

and once more, another metal band knows that their title track slaps, that's why they put it as a title track, but people prefer to overlook the title track and listen to like 2 songs on repeat which are stranded and silvera. Don't get me wrong those are awesome tracks, but man the title track is the title track for a reason, it fucking slaps and it's a shame it's so underrated.

Joe and Mario Duplantier's mom passed away after a year-long battle fighting cancer, during the recording of Magma. Their loss inspired the spiritual direction that Gojira take on the album and is even reflected in its title track "Magma". "Magma actually refers to the lava when it is still in a volcano, it's the blood of the Earth at the point where it is boiling and ready to explode," Joe Duplantier explained to The Independent. "We put the sun on the cover to symbolically represent the big bang, the source of life. Not only that, but if you remove the 'g' from Magma it spells Mama and we see the 'g' as a representation of Gojira."
