The Criminal Code 1931 Crime Drama Boris Karloff

You could notice that Karloff gets fourth down in the actor list as this was made/shown in 1930, prior to his role in "the mummy" which braught him great fame. His acting in this is (as ever) excelent, and maybe contributed to the choice of Karloff playing the mummy..... thanks for the film.

Later, in 1950, this movie came out as “Convicted” with Broderick Crawford. This 1931 movie was also titled “Convicted”. 👍👍👍

Excellent! A Phillips Holmes movie, and a terrific one, at that!
If your viewers like him in this, then they should you track down and watch him (with Walter Huston again) in "Night Court"
