With so many beautiful NSW country towns, why do people drive straight by? Plus! THE DISH - Ep73

This week we stop for few days at Parkes because the FLU has hit the van but while we are there we take the chance to visit the ‘DISH’ the CSRIO’s Radio-telescope that was made famous when it was used in 1969 to help NASA track Apollo 11 on it voyage to the moon.

Then we move to the beautiful NSW country town of Grenfell once the biggest gold mining town in the state. Gold was first discovered here by a sheep farmer when he found gold bearing quartz and much to his wife’s disappointment set off one of the biggest gold rushes in Australia.

Besides gold the town has a rich railway and farming history its the birth place of one of Australia’s most famous poets, Henry Lawson. It’s also the first town we’ve visited where every pub in the Main Street is still trading…..amazing.

So go and get yourself a cold drink and come and us for the adventure.
