Cosmetology at Berks Career and Technology Center

Cosmetologists practice the art and science of improving beauty through the care and treatment of hair, skin, and nails. The Cosmetology program at Berks Career and technology Center is an excellent choice for students interested in becoming a licensed cosmetologist or nail technician. This program is designed in compliance with the rules, regulations and state-mandated curriculum of the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology. Students will receive theory lessons and hands-on training in the areas of manicuring, hair styling, color, and cutting, facials, and salon management. In addition, supporting topics include, anatomy, bacteriology, and physiology. The program requires all students to complete 1250 hours of instruction within a three year span. Once completed, students may choose to receive training to become a cosmetology instructor and participate in the student teaching program. The campus also holds cosmetology clinics that are open to the public under licensed supervision. The clinics allow students to provide basic salon services and gain valuable experience.
