My Hysterectomy Journey Gave Me My Life Back | 21Ninety

While the uterus can be the source of much joy, when involving conception and childbirth, it also can be a daunting, troublesome organ for many Black and Brown women. From endometriosis and uterine fibroids to different fertility woes, women of color are facing uterine complications that often make life painful. 21Ninety’s Youterus franchise, explores these topics in-depth.
This includes the heartfelt story of Melody Brown, Blavity’s Associate Vice President of Consumer Media, who underwent a hysterectomy in early 2024. She shares her journey, providing insight into the experience. Melody’s vulnerability puts words to a situation that many Black women have experienced, but never talked about.
