Retrospective Review - Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War

Today I realized these weren't recent reviews but were 9 years ago and I'm kind of shocked it took me that long to realize.

Ya know. It might be a fun game using space marine 2’s engine for a prequel story where you play as Angelos and the events of Cyrene.

Revisiting a classic 😋

I was like 13 when this game came out me I had it on a laptop what a great time the late 90’s and early 2000’s were for RTS genre it’s dated and turn based strategy proved to be the more timeless genre but I still to this day play DOW unification black Templars crimson fists all day

The Eldar rescue mission in DoW 2 was just brilliant, even to this day, some 15+ years later

INTERESTING NOTICE! So, apparently running Dawn of War on a 64-bit OS affects the lip-syncing in game. OR at least something to do with the GPU. I recall back in '04 that the lip sync was pretty good, then playing on Windows 8 it was wonky as heck. I was like "wtf, I don't remember this being that bad." Food for thought.

That opening cutscene was so mind-blowing in 2006 that I spent the next several months emptying my bank account on Space Marine minis and even got a Space Marine tattoo within the year. I had never seen so much concentrated badassdom before.

Ah jeremy soule. the only kickstarter that i chose that ran away with the money. Honestly seemed like the safest bet of them all. an award winning composer of multiple titles with sharp deadlines wants to compose more music? He got me. lol.

It's 2023, I'm playing this game for the first time and I'm loving it.

I think what I like about dawn of war’s graphics over other old RTS games is:

No. 1: it’s not 2D. Idk why but I just don’t like 2D rts games.

And No. 2: it’s not grainy.
I’ve seen other old 3D RTS games that look exactly as old as they are, every missing/doubled pixel is noticeable.

Dawn of war is juuuuust the right flavor of retro gaming.

Stop the hate of men who wear just tops in winter, im used to the cold so it doesnt bother me, put me in the heat however and until i get used to the climate ill be the one struggling.Things dont always have to be about showing off because im a man! lol

I got dawn of war as my first rts as a kid. I now have imperial knights as tabletop models. Safe to say that it pulled me into 40k. Hell im such a warhammer fan. I have age of fuckin sigmar
