DJI NEO - 1 MONTH LATER REVIEW - MY EXPERIENCE?

I expect delivery of my NEO today. Looking forward just to complement my mini 4 pro with low level following modes footage. In that way saving mini 4 pro batteries for shooting aerial cinematic scenes.

I have the Neo, i like it. But the Camera is real a Problem. Is it real the best way to build a Selphy Drone for Content Creators with such a bad Camera? In Germany you have to pay 199 EUR for the Neo, personally i really would pay 249 EUR for a better Sensor.

I have never owned a drone before so the Neo is something I am considering buying. As a person who knows nothing about drones I would be worried to buy an expensive one. So the neo sounds about perfect for learning and making some home videos as well.

I’m still getting used to this drone so when you use it it’s gotta be connected to phone yeah all the time cause I’ve used buttons on it without connecting to phone or controller and had issues like flys away or really unbalanced but that was before update haven’t yet tried it since cheers 😊

Took it with me on my dog walk this morning, great fun and so easy to use but with some limitations, still think it’s a brilliant package. Getting better at manual flying now too as I’ve got the controller😀👍

Yep. It's a gateway drone. Just like the dealer who gives samples of addictive drugs. Leads to more and more. We all know. I've been trying g to cut down for years, unsuccessfully.
These have been shipping to US Customers since October 8th. a) Amazong how long a month is, when you're waiting on something. b) Who knew the best accessory for Avata 2 would be another drone? A little bro I keep in the zippered net in the sling bag, meant for props, cables and Small parts.

DJI AIR 2 also had a half inch sensor and people loved it. The issue is the way Rock Steady Stabilization crops in. By that point it's closer to 2k/2.7k - ots not THAT bad if you know hou to coax a good image out. The other issue is Rock Steady needs HOGH FRAME RATES like action cameras to do Stabilization. So an ND Filter works best with in-camera Stabilization OFF and using Gyro Flow in Post. Else you will get artifacts.

Do you have need the faa 108 license for this drone? Thats what i watched the video for to figure out

Neo: Flies without a controller. Flies with Cellphone. Flies with regular controllers. Flies with RC2 controller. Flies with FPV equipment and it's $199 and it does all of it pretty well. There should be no complaints.

Love my Neo, I think most serious drone fliers expect to much from the little guy ! Bearing in mind what Neo owners pay for it, what editing software would you recommend ?, nothing to fancy or expensive.

For those who have it, is it useful for social events? Looking for something that can help record networking events and things of that nature rather than using a photographer? Is the noise too loud? Also, does it take pictures? Thanks in advance.

Took this out today, having owned the mini 4 and the mini 1 series drones here are my thoughts.

Good. Small nimble and fun to fly.
Easy quick shots right from the drone.
Voice control and tracking.

Mid. Video quality is ok with a few tweaks. Photos medium quality.
Tracking sometimes a bit off course.

Bad. Wind resistance is poor. Drone almost fell out of the sky.
Battery life isn't great.(get the flymore).

So a fun to fly drone in low winds, needs extra batteries. Good for beginners. Tough drone can take some crashes. Bad in medium wind, where other drones are stable. 7/10

i think about to get my hands on one as fly more combo and prop guards … the cause why, is it to be that small and low weight … i wanna try to fly indoors, especially an ice rink while hockey, freestyle and other skate training, using the goggles and fpy controller of the avata 2

Why does it take so long for the wifi to connect EACH time. Maybe I have some “auto connect” on my phone setting wrong. But WiFi doesn’t take that long to connect each time. The Neo connecting to the phone wifi seems way slow to me.

Does shooting in 1080 instead of 4k help with the oversharpening of the image everyone is frustrated about. (I don’t have an external control so I can’t change it)

how far away can it go? and will it crash to ground when exceeding that distance? and how do you know how far it is away? ah, just hearing you explain, 50 meters and it will automatically return. thanks for the video. what's the best way to order one of these? what format are the videos saved?

@DMProductions Great review as always, Darren!! I'm still waiting on my store to supply the Neo, I'm planning on getting the combo with three batteries. I probably will have this by the end of October, but since I already have the Mini 4 Pro and Avata 2 I'm not in a hurry. But it will be fun, because I have all the controllers the Neo is compatible with. And I can already see how the Neo can help enhance my content, as a drone that can get into tight spaces and be almost just as nimble as the Avata 2. Thanks man!!!

See, you talk about this being a taster drone and I don't disagree, but in one respect DJI makes that untrue.

For instance, let's say you buy a DJI Neo and then later get the RC2 controller as an upgrade. You then decide to get a DJI Mini 4K which is arguably the next step up, in terms of price range (when the Pro is a lot more expensive).

You buy a DJI Mini 4K and then realize that your RC2 controller doesn't work with it. I could envision that being frustrating.

I'm in the opposite situation, where I have a DJI Mini 4K and it's tempting to get a DJI Neo to get that ease of use, without the need for a mobile phone+controller mess (at times) and because I also know it can work with EVERY controller going.

I've been flying drones for years but this is my new favorite. It's the best indoor flyer I've experienced.

DJI RC 2? My Avata 2 works with my DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, DJI list the Neo as compatible with the DJI Goggles 3, DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and DJI RC Motion 3 but at the DJI site they don't list the DJI RC-N2 but do list the DJI RC 2 as compatible with the Neo (and have it listed for sell). The DJI Neo cost a little more than one battery for the Avata 2!

I'd wait for a 2nd gen of the Neo

bought the NEO FMP as a complementary drone to the AIR3S. For upcoming travel as well where I would not use the bigger drone.

Can you shoot in log?

In order for the Drone to get an update camera it has to be successful in sales to not get strapped completely. And we all know how DJI do things did drones they keep in their lineup the cameras get better and better each time around. But I think the needle is in survival mode right now

My wife and kids never take photos of me. I am missing on every vacation. Except when I remember to make a selfie. This is the drone for me! Though I may wait on v2 in the hope of getting proximity sensors.

I know you have the Luts package, but do you think the ND filters make enough of a difference to the Neo camera to avoid editing on a laptop?

On my sony bravia 4k oled '20s era 50 something injch TV... The it's video is honestly great! Easly beats anything at it's it's price range thag I know of... Like if you want better video recording you would need and over $1k mirrorless DLSR or an iPhone pro, Galexy s or a pixel... As litterly anything else you may not even have 4k not to mention look that good and notbly the Neo is $200 not well above $300 if you go for a Pixel A series phone. Not to mention despite 1080p displays have gone mostly extenct replaced by 720,1440p, 4k,8k and 16k displays.. Amd despite being able to get a 4k TV that by the way only come above 40 inches for $200 that is really good any day of the week... Most people some how only have 1080p displays and with Apple leading the way more people have 720p displays then ever before... Though I highly doudt it will stay that way as the display industry is brute forcing 4k to finnly be the standard about a dacade late... Which the pictures and video this drone just makes is extremely future prof as like I said unless you have one of those devices I mentioned. You photos and video will look very old very soon do to how isnaly good cheap TV are now... Which honestly with all the features thos drone has will likely make it the poloid/camciorder/Smart phone camare... As all you need to use this drone is the drone fully charged and working and all you do is the press the buttom on top it does the resrt... Like my guy this is a massive revoltion for casul people to capture memorioes with... As unlike the rest all you do is press a button no skill or need to be behind the camre or use the weak selfy cam... Like the common man has been prosmissed this ability forever but now we have it chesaper then anyother option besides a free photo op...

I've seen a lot of vidoes on this drone & people always say we need this, this & this update what everybody doesn't realise is it is going to have limitations due to size, processor etc I think it's an amazing price of engineering tech

Seems good for short clips, anything past that you need a real drone. I've already go the Mini 4 pro and an Air 3s. It does seem fun if your looking to do shorts and don't want to pull out the regular drones. Thanks for the walk through.

I have the neo and rc2 from my mini 4pro. If i buy just the goggles 3, will i be able to pair the rc2 to goggles 3 and fly the neo with those together?
