Another great episode, this game took a lot of my quarters back in 1990. Hope your well
ОтветитьWelcome back, Patman! Awesome choice for a review segment!
ОтветитьLove your documentaries- boomshakalkaka
ОтветитьI came across console versions as a kid, but it didn't appeal to me. I don't know if i actually played it or not. But I might consider trying it now. Especially now that I have multiple arcade sticks...
I find it odd you called the ports "conversions" though. I was a bit confused for a second. "conversion" in my mind -- at least for arcade games -- means a machine for one game gets replaced with another game but with the same cabinet.
The running man
ОтветитьWas never a big fan of this game but Robotron 2084 and Berserk are two of my all-time favorite coin-ops!!
Ответитьit’s always funny to see the home versions of complicated games absolutely falling short due to the hardware limitations.
atari 2600 and intellivision stuff 😅 trying to run robotron 2084 for example.
Thank you for yet another first class video, Patman!
ОтветитьDoes this mean youe all better with being really sick? I just recently discovered this awesome channel and going to be upset If you leave us too soon.
ОтветитьILL BUY THAT FOR 14 DOLLARS,(Adjusted for inflation)
ОтветитьI love the arcade game called SMASH TV from the people Mastermind of Williams/Midway electronics Inc, I really enjoy the compilation emulator for Midway Arcade Treasures on PS2 GameCube and Xbox and thank goodness I can still play the Xbox game on my Xbox series X, in my opinion SMASH TV is my all time favorite for this is one of the best arcade classics hits from the 1980s and 1990s and this is one of the best games of all time so LET'S GO!!!!
ОтветитьGold Mine arcade, Long Beach mall. My favorite game as a kid! Use to laugh out loud with my buddy seeing who got vcrs and good meat bonuses! Could've bought my own cabinet with how many quarters we put in.
ОтветитьThanks for the consistently great videos Pat!
ОтветитьI didn't get to go to arcades all that often, and when I did, I didn't have a lot of spare money to spend. If I played a new game and it was too hard, I'd usually quit and go play something easier. I once watched a guy playing Terminator 2: The Arcade Game, and he was pumping tokens into it every 20 seconds seconds or so while fighting a boss. I thought he was crazy to waste that much money on it.
ОтветитьHitting start for the 87th time in 6 minutes at the galloping ghost, my friend said the great line "it's a quarter eater"
ОтветитьI was/am lucky enough to have the Snes version. Many hours played with a mate on it. Even though I had the Snes version I was aware of the Nes version and as impressed by how good it was.
ОтветитьHoly moly, that 64 version, looks great!
ОтветитьFinally finished that game at Galloping Ghost. Thanks to free play. I don't even want to think about all the quarters I spent when I was a kid on that game.
ОтветитьHope you get to feeling better
Ответить@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries you mean that the co creator of Mortal Kombat contributed to smash tv? Fantastic!
ОтветитьEugene Jarvis is an arcade goat! Robotron is a little before my time. Smash TV is the game that got me into twinstick shooters.
ОтветитьHow have you not broken 100k subs yet! Your videos/documentaries are among the best I have seen.
ОтветитьSmash was always one of my favorite arcade games and one of the first arcades I emulated. In early 2000, I played a round with a buddy of mine and we beat it. Granted, we weren't trying super hard to avoid death, but we weren't going around looking for it either. Using the emulated dip switches for the arcade, I was able to get into the config and noted that, between the two of us, it cost around $45.00 in quarters to beat. An absolutely brutal monster.
ОтветитьWhat's crazy is how much Smash TV feels like a natural progression from Robotron 2084. Total Carnage, it's sequel, while a visual feast, was much less polished and enjoyable
ОтветитьThank you for the vid! I loved to play with dual D-pads on the Genesis!! ^^
ОтветитьI would love to play a new anthology of Jarvis' games, though I'm not sure who owns them now. It's weird that Robotron, Smash, and Carnage are all mostly unavailable to buy today, unless you spring a small fortune for full cabinets or go through the hassle of emulation
ОтветитьGreat video! Lots of facts I never knew! Loved this game, it was a great one to grab a buddy and a pile of tokens and just plow through it! One of the other games it reminded me of was Sente's Snake Pit, with similarly pseudo-3D chambers-- plus it was almost a twin stick (a trackball and a stick). Thanks for the memories!
ОтветитьIf they'd put a dozen bikini
Clad women behind those credits that could've passed for a pleasure dome lol
Love the 'king of kings' name for Eugene! Quality as usual, PatmanQC. You're a man who knows gaming with a real depth of knowledge and understanding. Imagine making Defender then Robotron, way back then? What a legend, I'd love to meet the guy over a few drinks.
ОтветитьHope you're doing well pat man
ОтветитьPaaaaaatmaaaaaan! Best intro ever!
ОтветитьGauntlet and Smash T.V. , were my favorite games as a kid, you needed someone to play the game with you...
ОтветитьGreat video. Thank you.
ОтветитьThe prizes collected in this game always made me ask the question "How many VCRs does one person need?" 🤔😆
ОтветитьI never played the arcade game but I played the hell out of the SNES version. I guess I did get the best version, the other versions really look like garbage.
I think that's my favorite part of the video is when you show the ports.
Ahh Eugene Jarvis, that guy that all UK retro mags has to quote at least 5 times in every issue...
ОтветитьAnother great video! I’d buy that for a dollar!
ОтветитьI'd buy that for a dollar
ОтветитьSecond arena boss probably inspired by Sinistar
ОтветитьI always thought this game was a reboot/remake of Robotron 2084. Still fun to play even though I got creamed after the 4th level.
ОтветитьMy teenage daughter and I will break out the SNES once a month for a gaming session. Smash TV is always an all-star.
ОтветитьOh man, what blast from the past! Awesome!
ОтветитьGreat video!! Thanks Patman!
ОтветитьI ised to ALWAYS sink a bunch of quarters on this arcade machine whenever I saw it! It was GREAT!
ОтветитьThis needs a remake or to be on switch. I am surprised that you can't get it on any of the new gens. Me and my uncle use to play this, streets of rage, and Sonic every time i went to my grandmothers house.
Ответить@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries, I honestly forgot about the resurgence of video games that are like the video games that are in this video, and it all happened because of a video game that was named Vampire Survivors, as well as SO many clones of that video game. However, if you want something that is more retro in style, such as the video game that is in this video, but that still has the mechanics of those other video games, then I would highly recommend a video game that goes by the name of Satryn Deluxe. Moreover, many of these video games are less than $USD 10, and quite a few of them are also free, and/or have free demos as well.
ОтветитьQuarter killer and one of the best games to hit the arcades of our time. I loved playing this and watched people all the time when they were close to the end to see the ending.
ОтветитьFunfact:there are unreleased voice
Samples in the files of the game.
One featuring mills Lane counting.
