Considering humanities bloody history, governments are hands down the largest threat we face. I prep, not so much just to survive, but to be an example of self reliance, so that others can witness and hopefully emulate. Self reliance is the antithesis of state dependence, and the solution to all government violence. Thanks for the upload!

Great video. I subbed recently and a happy subscriber. I no longer like the term prepper. It does not really describe what you describe. It does describe food and gun hoarders but really it is much more than collecting stuff and a few skills. Playing at being a soldier is common on some sites. Flogging garbage is increasing as well. I've in the past have been pretty quiet about my "prepping" (I'm like the turtle that just keeps going) recently, I've been telling certain people about what I'm doing. I get mixed responses. This is why I keep my mouth shut, for the most part. The ones that aren't into what I'm doing say this, I'm coming to your house when shtf! I retort. ...no you should not. ...I won't be here ! You should take care of things now. They look at me glassy eyed. This is the main reason I keep quiet. I can't feed and secure everyone.

Tin foil hat guys are not preppers, they are "undergound lizard men" and "moon made out of cheese" conspiracy theorists.

Great video. Great information. Too many Prepper Channels here are about the Zombie Apocalypse, running through the woods with guns blazing. Ridiculous! CP is logical and sensical. Keep up the good work.

Great presentation! One of the things that bigs me is the idea of single issue preppers. I think Doomsday Preppers started that concept but in reality as you noted the vast majority of us are not single issue preppers we are just regular folks who value life and are doing what we can to make sure our families will be safe and cared for in a disaster situation. Nice work!

Wow! not one mention of grabbing your AR and bugging out to the national park and fighting the Illuminati. In all seriousness great job presenting the prepper mindset and why its so important. I would mention that the likelihood of something going wrong is inversely proportional to the number of people it effects. You're more likely to face a job loss or death of a loved one than the whole economy taking a dump and effecting everybody.

Excellent job explaining the basis of preparedness. We hear stories as children, like the grasshopper and the ant, or the tortoise and the hare, and yet we seem to think we outgrow these precepts to good sense.

From my recollection the ant had to deal with grasshopper begging for food so don't go telling people you're a prepper.

Very well said. I live in northern Alberta in an area which frequently loses electricity (and thus water with no pumps) or running. The electricity is run up here by one line over hundreds of miles so if it goes down it can be hours or even days before the power is back. I started prepping when the power went out in the middle of the winter one night. It was off all day by the next night it was getting very cold in the house. My wife was pregnant at the time and I released while we could survive for days in these conditions, a baby could not. I bought a 2500W gas generator that day and starting thinking about how long we could survive on that in the event of a prolonged emergency. I came to the conclusion that we were unprepared to last more than a few days in the winter and maybe a few weeks in the summer.

Ever since I've looked at every aspect of my life and ask "long could I survive without that?"

OMG, you mean I am supposed to take care of myself, be responsible for my own welfare. Like dang, how strange a concept for this modern world!

I will have to admit I was skeptical about this video, but after watching it, I think you summed it up very well. Glad to find other like minded people out there in the community. Keep up the good work, we are trying to send the same message about being prepared but we are just getting started here.

I'm new here but I been saving silver coins for years.

Katrina is a prime example to al least be prepared with food, water and a escape plan. Had they done it before Katrina there would have been less people sitting around with their hand out waiting for the Gov. to put food in it...If there s a single event that should motivate you to be prepared that was it!!.... as far as buying guns and 20,000 rounds of ammo forget it unless you have at least some training in firearm handling, otherwise your just asking to get hurt. yes a shotgun or handgun for last ditch protection would be a good tthing. thinking your going to hold off waves of attackers is not.

The silliest thing about prepping is the EDC (Everyday carry).Why on earth would you go about your business every day carrying a bag or rucksack containing things that you will never, and I do mean never, need in the normal course of your everyday life. Some people won't go anywhere without their EDC bag. Some of the things I see in videos about EDC bags are quite bizarre, I mean who needs to carry a compass to work? Then there's the "Get you home bag" Get you home from where? The jungles of Thailand? or the office where you work? It seems to me a whole industry has grown up and people have made a lot of money praying on the insecurities of others. Carrying some emergency gear in your vehicle is one thing, lumping a bag full o stuff around everywhere you go, forget it.

I tell everyone I know to be prepared, store food and water and medical supplies lanterns and batteries and ways to purify water,seeds they look at me like I'm crazy ,Noone wants to get off that ass and do anything they think nothing could possibly happen in America ,The government will not save you if this dollar collapses you have to save yourself.

Great explanation - since I'm just a little older I can honestly say that I got into "Prepping" because of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Lloyd our next door neighbor was the block Civil Defense Warden and he built a bomb shelter in his back yard - circa 1963. Have thought that a little preparation is worthwhile ever since.

I agree with the fact that everyone should be prepared, unfortunatley the word "prepper" is now associated with obsessive and antisocial people, because they get covered easily on the media, of course. Anyway it's a word that I don't like to use to describe myself either, having a little bit of food and tools to use in case of an emergency is just common sense, it doesn't need to be restricted to a category on its own.

I'm a new subscriber to your channel and live about 1000 miles north of you... still in earthquake country but just above 49 north.

I don't consider myself a prepper... but have family in Texas who evacuated ahead of Rita and again a few weeks ago. I realize how fragile society is and I've lived in parts of the world where I was cut off from grocery stores and gas stations for several days at a time.

I have a small bag I carry to work every day...the critical stuff I need for 24 hours.
I have a rolling duffel bag in the trunk of my car with food, water and stuff to last me 72 hours.
There's always an ample supply of food and water in the pantry at home and I have a stash of food and water in my locker at work.

Am I a prepper...? I don't count myself as one... but I am prepared to survive if I have to deal with an extended power outage...snow storm...

So maybe I am a prepper and never knew it.

Hello from Spain! great video mate! the left in the US and most of the world ridiculed preppers for years and now they are realizing that it is actually something that could tremendously help you one day, you never know when civilization will crumble, and when that happens, you and your family will most likely be on your own, there's no need to take things to the extreme, learning basic things is enough to give you an advantage over most of the population in such an event.

I have to chuckle - I've been 'prepping' for a good 30yrs, i don't trust Gov. Im not a Repbu. so not all Preppers are Repubs :)

- Mainstream preparedness is concerned only/predominately with short term scenarios that will last a couple days or a couples weeks and effect a local or regional area. Ain't nothing wrong with that and everyone with two brain cells to rub together should be at this level.
- Preppers acknowledge that there is a possibility/probability for a long term scenario that could last months, years or generations and that could effect an entire Nation, Continent, World or Universe and have decided to prepare accordingly to their concerns.
- Date Seters are mentally ill or scam artists.
- Home Steaders and Bushcrafters are not necessarily the same but there is atleast some crossover.

When recently threatened with fires I did not need an INCH bag but more like a suitcase you take on vacation to a hotel or family/friends home for a few days. Different scenarios require different gear or actions.

Unfortunately praying topic is not even touched here. Praying is a crucial part of prepping for the afterlife. Another financial crisis may not come, and nuclear catastrophe could not happen for a next hundred years. Death! The best part about being alive is that you know for sure you will die no matter what. This can happen sooner or later, but the result is the same. You might think that saving your family is important, well if they are alive they'll also die, Moreover the time when all humans will be dead is inevitable, because Gibbs energy of a corpse is low and Universe will be in a state with lowest Gibbs energy possible.

Considering what America looks like now (oct 2018). Not the worst idea. But every time I find “prepping” videos, I just see scary angry dudes with guns, Not what I want to learn from. This video seems more stable minded.

Investing in reliable HAM radios is a good start.
