Don’t Miss Leavenworth, Washington State's Enchanting Bavarian Village

Nestled in Washington’s Cascade mountains, you’ll find a town that looks like it came from another place or time—the charming Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth. In today’s video, I’ll share a preview of this special place.

Leavenworth is on Highway 2, a scenic alternative to Interstate 90 if you’re driving between eastern and Western Washington.

You’ll find a walkable town ringed with snowy mountains, and bustling with visitors exploring its many shops and restaurants.

Something weird about Leavenworth is that it doesn’t actually have Bavarian roots. It was a logging town in its original heyday, and when that industry faded, enterprising townspeople proposed a Bavarian theme to transition to a tourism-based economy. It certainly worked!

Leavenworth is a great place to stop any time of year (this was filmed at the end of March), but it’s busiest during annual festivals like Oktoberfest, the Christmas season, Maifest, and the Autumn Leaf Festival.

You can take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, eat out, admire the many murals across town, and take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

You can either street park (it’s metered) or park at one of four paid parking lots in town.

One of the most special things about Leavenworth is its location in the Cascades. Even the drive there along Highway 2 is a scenic treat.
