Facts about Africa:

Africa is the second largest continent in the world.
Africa is the second most popular continent
It is surrounded by water from all directions, with the Mediterranean sea in the north, the Suez canal, and the red sea in the north east
The Indian ocean in the east and south east and the Atlantic ocean in the west.


Africa occupies both Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere making it the only continent experiencing both the Northern and the Southern
Temperature zones.

Africa is the hottest continent in earth where a lot of the land consist of deserts and drylands


The equator runs through some countries in Africa. 7 in fact.

The equator is an imaginary line around the earth, dividing the earth into the Northern and the Southern Hemisphere

Nearly equator the temperature is hotter and more hamade than other parts of the earth. Making it feel like summer all year around



It contains the world's largest desert and its called The Sahara Desert which is almost the size of the entirety of United States of America.
Africa also contains world's longest river called The Nile River in Egypt cutting through 11 countries



Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. Africa is one of the world's most amazing animals:
Like the tallest animal the Giraffe
The deadliest animal the Hippopotamus
And the largest animal on land the Elephant


You can also find cheetahs, Gorillas, Zebras, Rhinos, Lemurs, and many unique birds.


Africa is the most Multilingual continent in the whole world where thousands of languages are spoken with 4 major language families:

3. Niger-Congo
4. Khoisan

Egypt is a transcontinental country, it is part of different continents


Egypt itself occupies the North East corner of Africa, and also the South East corner of Asia which is also known as the Middle East

Africa has huge geographical disadvantages that continue to impede development. Corrupt governments, kleptocracy and little capital investment consign Africa to underdevelopment.

Africa has 3 snow-capped mountains, i. e Mt Kenya, Mt Kilimanjaro and Ruwenzori Mountains, those ones are close to the equator and have Arctic Climate throughout the year

Ok. I understand this video is for beginning geography students, but Mr. Zoller completely failed to talk about environmental destruction in Africa. Mining? Rubber trees? Oil!?!? Come on! These resources are direct causes of global warming and habitat destruction! I can't believe this video just skips over the most important threat of our time.

Africa is great until those people come .Next they'll tell you who discovered it.
