He’s acknowledging something that he didn’t understand before. I don’t see an issue with it, and I’m glad he finally came to a realization that his wife is capable of reason and respects her in the ways that he has come to. Not everyone has the capacity to understand things in the same way so props to him for finally coming to the realization. I don’t think we should judge him for his incapability, we all learn at different rates.

let's dissect this a little further. this man is married. a woman stayed with him for 10 years. I can't speak to what kind of person she is with any certainty, but perhaps his perception of her as not having or utilizing 'reason' may be due to her reluctance to display it very often. because him.

I hope he's got a lot of money, because there's very little else i can even fathom that would glue her to him for a decade or more under these circumstances.

I would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say "Well he didn't say NO women have the ability to reason, just that he didn't think HIS WIFE did, and we've all met a couple people we're not really sure have any internal process upstairs right?" BUT, 10 years? That's an awful long time to figure out that someone you interact with for hours a day isn't as dumb as you thought. Hell, I would have to think that the normal process of deciding you want to marry someone should take enough time to figure out that they're not dumber than a box of hammers despite what you previously thought.
So either you have to assume that he was deeply entrenched in a worldview where it wasn't possible for his wife to have reason, or just maybe it's his wheel that has no hamster on it.

Just because men don't live life from a woman's perspective doesn't mean it's the wrong path in life.

Women are starting to realize that most of their husbands and boyfriends hate them.

Why would someone marry a person who they did not think had the capacity to reason? I can understand that many intelligent people are comfortable dating people who are average or below average intelligence, since people can have many positive qualities aside from their ability to articulate... but even still, I feel there's a significant gap between "below average intelligence" and "unable to reason". When we describe someone as "unreasonable", we usually mean their mind is so far gone that there is no point in trying to communicate with them. And if you can't communicate with a person, they'd probably make a terrible spouse!
