I’m 69 years old and, having dabbled with a cheap jump rope last year, and then found JRD, I bought the ‘Get Lean’ set from Crossrope last September (along with subscribing to their App), followed by the ‘Get Strong’ set in November. And, weather permitting, I’ve been doing a 30-minute session, 6 days a week, pretty much from the start – and I absolutely love it. Earlier this year, I got the 1½ lb heavy performance rope (as I was finding the 2 lb rope really tough going) and, as soon as they were available in the UK, I bought the AMP handles, which I’ve now been using for a couple of months. So, here are my thoughts on the AMP handles:
Firstly, I would still be doing 30-minute sessions 6 days a week, with or without the AMP handles so, from that perspective, they’re certainly not essential to getting huge value out of jumping rope.
However, while all the ’historical’ metrics are interesting, what I absolutely love about AMP, is that the workouts in the App become customised to your level of fitness. So, say you’re doing a 30 second Boxer Step as part of a workout, the App will set a target for the number of jumps with the weight of rope you’re using and shows you, in real-time, how you’re performing against the target, as you go through the 30 second period. It’s like have a personal trainer standing beside you, motivating you to beat the target. And, if you beat the targets in the workout, the App will ask if you would like to ‘up’ the targets for next time. So, it’s always pushing you to increase your performance / intensity, depending on your current ability and fitness.
Also, the ‘Benchmark’ section allows you to take a regular ‘snapshot’ of your performance, enabling you to see how you’re progressing. For example, maybe a month ago, I was able to do 67 jumps in 30 seconds using the 2 lb rope and today, I’ve been able to do 78. That’s motivating.
So, for me, the AMP handles really add to the whole jump rope experience, and certainly make the workouts and programs in the App more compelling. And I'm sure they will have a positive impact on my fitness over time, as they continue to push me to new levels of intensity. As for the cost, that's a personal thing but, for me, the handles and App subscription are money well spent.
Finally, to confirm, I have no affiliation to Crossrope; I’m just an old boy in the UK who loves jumping rope and loves the Crossrope products I currently own.
The Handles are the weakest product from crossrope (beside the ropeless). They are pretty slow, bad handling feeling for me, not strong enough for the ultra heavys. Software realisation is completely shitty. Really disappointed.
ОтветитьJumped 200,000 age 66 two years ago in 51 weeks, needed to do 4,600 each the last two days to reach my 200k goal, which took about one hour and 45 minutes each day, or 23x200. Could only jump three days a week as I traveled and could not jump on the road. Counted each jump up to 20 and started over. Paused at 200 for drink of water. Since this is Minnesota and have winter, I would be jumping while neighbor would be snowblowing his driveway. Jumped to about 0 degrees F. Have the 1/4 pound cross rope and probably won't do the app. May change my mind will see. Jumped all on cement but have now bought a mat. Would need to average 2,700 a day to do a million in a year. Doubt I would do that, but that would be about an hour. Not impossible.
ОтветитьSmh that subscription thing is just nuts.. I can't support a company that plays games like these... either lower the price or make a deal with us that we can use the app if we purchasing a jump rope that's over $200 bucks... Update me when they change this and I will buy...
ОтветитьDan lost his partner and decided to sellout. Sad day for JRD. 🥺
ОтветитьHey man love your videos and I do your workouts everyday. Please if you get a chance come to india for a meetup so that we get to meet you and maybe do workout together love you man🤞❤
ОтветитьMonthly subscription? Hahahahahahahaha, NO.
ОтветитьIs this no late for 30yr old to start a jumping rope workout?
ОтветитьThat JRD sweatshirt looks so dope! Where can I get one?
ОтветитьBro do u get tripped while skipping
ОтветитьI first started jumping rope with the 1 and 2 lb ropes from Crossrope last December. The power output explained by Dan in the video is for real. Before I consistently started jumping rope, primarily the 1 lb rope, I had a hard time doing muscle ups. Now I can do 4 to 5 and still have some juice left over for additional pull ups. I honestly only do weighted pull ups once or twice every 2 to 3 weeks and lateral pull downs a couple times a week for actual back exercises. The only other back exercise I get is using the 1 and 2 lb ropes which I really feel make the difference.
ОтветитьSubscription after you pay 200 dollars for the product? Seems totally insane to me
ОтветитьSamsung Galaxy watch does all this. No subscription needed.
ОтветитьHi Dan, I saw the part where you have talked about the double unders and the calculation, is that working now? I have been trying but not sure I have an accurate count!
Ответитьwhy is amp membership required to pair with iPhone?
ОтветитьYou mentioned this system works on an iPad. Hooray! However my iPad doesn’t have cellular. I can’t be sure of a secure Wi-Fi access everywhere I want to jump. Will the app work without an internet connection? Thank you.
ОтветитьThank you for the in depth review. I just ordered the new handles with some new ropes. I’ve been using my cross ropes religiously since 2020. Thank you for the amazing discount as well 🔥. Forever a fan of this channel.
Ответитьwhat gets measured gets improved
ОтветитьI wont be upgrading due to the subscription of the app.
ОтветитьCan't knock companies for grabbing subscription money. Many are willing to join. But I'm happy to track other ways.
ОтветитьMeh hard to see this as a credible review from dudes who are sponsored by Crossropes
ОтветитьLearned a lot 🎉
ОтветитьFYI - the bluetooth features do NOT work if you do not have the us$60/year subscription.
Thank goodness my Concept2 rower doesn't require a subscription for the output.
I think it is a mistake not to allow the bluetooth features without subscription. Price of the crossropes justify this.
Where does the charger connect?
ОтветитьIs it very common for the rope to get stained for you guys? Because it keeps happening to mine
ОтветитьToo biased for this review to mean anything. Jump rope metrics is really useless especially if you are charging for it. Duration and intensity is the only thing that matters.
ОтветитьDan when will a JRD AMP handles come out? It's the only AMP handles I'm interested in. 👍
ОтветитьI can’t fault CR for having a paid subscription for these. Apps have come a long way from the one and done apps of a decade ago. Ongoing support, updates and new content/features… that all costs money.
Would it be nice if the app was free? Absolutely. But if the shoe were on the other foot, no one here would be doing that with their product either.
And as Dan points out, it’s not an astronomical amount either compared to other fitness apps.
The fact that it is a $10/month subscription to be able to use the $100 handles should be a bigger part of the review. You cant do anything without the app. It will cost you $120 a year just to use the rope.
ОтветитьCan you please give a review on the ropes that comes with the new amp handles? Thank you..
ОтветитьSo sick! I never think about tracking progress like I should.
ОтветитьIf not for the subsription, I will definitely buy it. I just want some basic stats nothing much. Why would I pay 120$ per year to use a 200$ jump rope? Feels very greedy
ОтветитьI was gifted the Bluetooth AMP handles after purchasing the classic weighted ones 6 months ago. I was super disappointed when I found out that in order to even use the AMP handles, you must purchase a $12/mnth subscription. I found that incredibly greedy given that I’d already purchased $100+ classic ropes and my partner purchased these $100+ Bluetooth handles. When all is said and done, this would be a $280 purchase year one + an additional $80/yr subscription annually…hundreds of dollars over the life of the ropes. I would think that we’d at least be able to free jump and simply count on the app without buying a subscription. This isn’t made clear enough at the time of purchase but is written is small text on the side I the box…Make it EXPLICITLY clear that these handles WILL NOT WORK with a paid subscription. 🤢
ОтветитьDoes this system connect to garmin app/watch???
ОтветитьThe amount of unhappy customers is growing. The android app vs iphone have differences, i will not list them due to programmers should be aware. The iphone version is more refined and has additional features. So im being charged the same for a less useful apps. The handles, they're great and i enjoy them but, too expensive. Once subscription expires i found more affordable options with workouts and programable options.
ОтветитьI think you've answered this question, but do you lift weights or do you just jump?
ОтветитьHi. I have just purchased my new 2 and 3 lbs. Crossrope Jump ropes last month with the performance handles. One handle is making a clicking sound while I'm skipping with the ropes. I tried lubricating the handle bearings where I assume the bearings are right at the end where the metal part is and the loops with a spray industrial all purpose equipment lubricant but it's still clicking while I'm using it. Is there a way to fix this?? Thanks.
Great video!!
Needing the subscription kills the value for these. What a disappointment.
ОтветитьQuick question I have the classic set 1/4 lbs and the 1/2lbs. If I buy just the amp handles would the rope still work on the app??
ОтветитьI did some research to find out how lib or conservative the owner was. He served in our navy and generally seems to be a pretty normal guy. Much better than the owner of Peloton who I’ll never buy from
ОтветитьYo i didnt know there was a subscription. Whats the return policy?
ОтветитьI'm buying every jump rope set crossrope have.
ОтветитьRopes should be no more than 70 if a subscription is required
ОтветитьI just want to make sure I understand. These ropes still work like the “classic” ropes if you don’t get the subscription? It’s not like you can’t use these like classic ropes if you decide not to pay the subscription right?
I’m asking because, currently, the AMP set is less expensive than the classic get lean set.
i always count to 120 skips thats exactly 1 min for me. to increase intensity i just fumble in some tricks. did this for 7 months 15 sets in 30 min around. lost 22kg.
ОтветитьWhat a douchey review 😢 😴
ОтветитьI’m a beginner and need to see the numbers honestly. The time doesn’t do it for me because I don’t go a hard as I can. I had the app already so that isn’t a deal breaker for me. I can’t wait to get mine.
Ответитьsuch a greedy brand, pathetic, daring to sell a subscription for your jumping rope, what a joke
ОтветитьLooks super cool but like others i think the “free jump” feature should be free and if you want access to the workouts then charge $9.99 a month for that
Ответить
