US President Donald Trump has paused all US military aid to Ukraine just days after clashing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, leaving some to wonder about the motivations behind this decision.
It is reported all military equipment not in the war-torn country, as well as weapons which are in transit on aircraft and ships, would be "temporarily" halted.
According to former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, the move is part of a “greater negotiating tactic”.
“The bottom line is, President Zelensky should do two things. Number one, sign that mineral seal. Number two, apologise to President Trump and thank the American people,” Mr Spicer told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“If those two things happen, Ukraine will be secure. If US interests, commercially, are aligned with Ukraine, our companies, our workers, that's probably the greatest protection and security that he could possibly get.”
