Well this was really uplifting,

If you're crazy enough to board a plane and die, that's your business.
But innocent people on the ground are being murdered Bc of it.
It's not right!!

I was 3 when this horrible tragedy happened my dad at the time was working for this company called Wolf Xrays..

wow my moms lived at sterling pl and 5th ave when this happened she had me 11 years after crazy but im still living around the area still till this day and moms close by god bless all those lost lives i was born in methodist hospital

Regarding a couple of comments from posters who remember the crash living so close. Bit random I know but it has always bugged me how no survivors not anyone on their last phone calls to loved ones ever mentioned (without prompt or being told) that a big fuck off plane had gone right through both of the towers on 9/11.

My Grandfather and namesake Arthur F Schuelke was on the united flight.

I WAS 6 YRS OLD AND LIVING IN BROOKLYN WHEN THIS HORRIFIC ACCIDENT HAPPENED...IT SHOOK MY APARTMENT AND WE ALL HEARD THE EXPLOSION !.....WE DIDNT KNOW TILL LATER WHAT IT WAS.....IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN TODAY MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE SAVED THAT LITTLE BOY ! :(

I remember the news stories of this when I was 8 in Pittsburgh.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the crash. 12/16/2020

60 years ago a few days ago. I had no idea this crash happened. never saw a mayday episode about it or anything

this event was the first memory of life for me . My father took me n my brother to see the site. Around 4 : 00 pm that night. I hope someone will make a movie about this event and the name of the movie will " Our tribute to a brave little boy"

There is no such thing as perfection in aviation. The crashes will continue to happen.
Human beings are subject to error and failure. They make mistakes whether they are pilots or Maintenance. Humans get angry, they make mistakes. They get tired, they forget, they aren't perfect.

TCAS has been a tremendous success. It’s still being upgraded and refined today. A huge Pat on the back to those involved in its design and development.

I was in the 4th grade in Queens along the primary street that many fire trucks were using to race to the scene. I can still remember the sound of the sirens that seemed to go on for at least 45 minutes or more. When I got home for lunch my mother had TV on with a live picture from the scene.

Ironically enough, it was the same two Airlines that had a midair collision 4 years earlier with both aircraft crashing into the Grand Canyon.

Ironically, the first commercial features a concord jet type aircraft, which eventually was also destroyed in a crash.

"How do you feel about your son being the only survivor ?" The media was just as stupid then as they are now.

My uncle was a passenger on the United flight.

I truly believe those in 1960 who were young during that time later saw 9/11, and the deep flashback sunk in. Only 41 years later 9/11 would happen😔😔

I live within 2 miles ofthe end of RW-9. What I fear is stupid noise abatement resrictions, I don't want 800,000 lb. B-747 freighters passing over at reduced trust. I want climb to 16,000 ft. at 300 kts or more. Safety is first always, todays jets are quiet.

Vaguely remember seeing this when I was young.

I am almost 70 years old and this is one of the first major news stories that I remember as a child. I especially remember seeing the front page photos of Stephen Baltz. I was 7 years old at the time. I still remember.

It was a miracle that young Steven Baltz had survived the initial crash at all, but who unfortunately died shortly afterward. If this had happened 10-20 years later, perhaps more advanced medical science would have enabled him to recover. I feel terrible for his parents who had hope at first then were crushed when they lost him.
The name of the church involved, Pillar of Fire also was prophetic.

As a side note, anybody who would name a Church "Pillar of Fire" is just asking for it to be burned down. Who names a church that? Like it was from hell, where fire is. Like it's taunting the devil himself. The whole scene was horrible but that detail really stuck with me. Thankfully, I've never heard of a church by that name since.

Oh geez I keep finding really weird images here. This program was obviously made a very long time ago. I see the commercial for the credit card. On the back of the Concorde. The Concorde that crashed in a ball of flames. The irony.

See YT on ASA Flight 529 (1995) crashed and all survived but fuel caught fire and 21 suffered severe burns. 10 of those eventually died as immune systems compromised prompted multiple organ failure.

I understand that Sir Edmund Hillary was supposed to be on the United flight...

I remember this so clearly! I saw it on my Grandmother's t.v. and I remember praying and praying for that little boy.He is older than I remember though.I remember him saying something about Sunday school. I had just turned 12 in 1960 also but I was 11 when that happened!
