I do it every time I stretch it out on both ends to make sure I get maximum. Use out of it and plus it straightens out the inner lining
ОтветитьYep!! my install lead Joe taught me that on my first day 11 years ago miss that bitter bastard lol
ОтветитьIt does help
ОтветитьYes, and remember to lick it before you stick it
ОтветитьYes
ОтветитьJust had my hvac replaced. I'll check with the installers if they stretched my ductwork
ОтветитьIt’s to reduce turbulence
ОтветитьUsed to stretch them out when I had someone else free to help pull the other end. Helped.
ОтветитьYes I have, my journeyman co-worker taught me. I was just going to throw it up but he stopped and told me about this! Great vid🎉
ОтветитьAlways read the manual! Gotta freak that flex out first.
ОтветитьThe good ol’ “1..2..3 , pull” 😂 especially with that damn 8” duct for some reason 💀
ОтветитьYup, bung a 2gal in the far end and jack the near end on a shop heater with no heat on... tada!
ОтветитьThe HVAC company that did our work left kinks and sags everywhere 😡
ОтветитьAlright ... nobody has said it but ,
If you give it the little blue pill it will stretch all by itself
I never knew that. I usually do try to stretch it out as I install it, but this makes sense. I personally like flex duct. One, it’s insulated, and two it’s seamless. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be acceptable, and in a renovation situation, would you rather have flex duct or nothing at all? 😂 we all know when remodelers come across a return or a register in their way it just gets deleted.
ОтветитьDid residential HVAC about 25 years ago. Never heard that...
ОтветитьIve heard that the old school flex had to he stretched. But not the flex from the last few years.
ОтветитьYes sir.
I always tell my guys to open the ducts and let them stretch mean while there doing cuts in the ceiling.
Sometimes there’s no time but definitely 12” and up
I was taught in my first few weeks to pull the flex tight.t the journeyman and me would get it out and each grab an end and pull it tight. Still dothat now and never have issues with it. I wouldnt do a whole system in it but i would make the duct runs to each supply with it with the main trunk being metal.
Ответить99 percent of installers take the box under the house with them
ОтветитьImprove that friction coefficient!
ОтветитьNah I don't do that
ОтветитьI need to stretch my head to get better memory out of it.
ОтветитьSILLY YUPPIE
ОтветитьYes, I used to be a commercial HVAC installer. I would always stretch it out.
ОтветитьThe flex liner will fold over inside and completely block air flow if you don't stretch it.
As an installer we either get two people to tug on the liner to completely unfold the liner to make it straight ,or we staple the liner to a stud and one man would pull the other end .
I hated making them things 😠
ОтветитьI never knew this but it makes sense. Thanks!
ОтветитьNever heard or read it but alwaya noticed the 3 layers never line up for a full 25 feet unless you stretch it out.
ОтветитьAbsolutely - stretch flex before installing!! 👍🏻👍🏻
ОтветитьFlex duct is cheap
ОтветитьI do dislike installing that stuff
ОтветитьNever heard that. But I've heard most people dont ever pull the liner tight and put way too many curves in it, having a very poor install
ОтветитьMannnn, when I was weee young apprentice, a vet told me to let the flex, "relax" , hence pull it out and pull until taught from both ends!!! 😂, brings backs some memories!! Hard Work!!
ОтветитьI’ve read the instructions but never seen another person ever follow them
ОтветитьYep, stretch the bladder, strap it about every 3 foot back in my install days. Nailed long boards in the attic to give us something to strap too.
ОтветитьMakes it so much easier dragging through an attic with a couple feet of clearance crawling😂
ОтветитьYes, because the metal coils are supposed to work like a turbine. If not, it will impede cfm flow.
Ответить😂 r u new to hvac?
ОтветитьMine waant installed properly
ОтветитьInstalled miles of that stuff.. yes, pulling it tight is important!
ОтветитьI mean, it comes in a 3 foot box that has 25 feet in it so you would think it would be self-explanatory.
ОтветитьWhat R rating should one get , I've seen R6 & 8?
ОтветитьMine are stretched
ОтветитьAlways stretch the flex
ОтветитьI’ve never read it
But my Mexican instructor told me
Jálale !
On the paper in the duct, it says to stretch it for like 2 minutes. Helps with air flow.
ОтветитьAlways !
ОтветитьBack when i did new construction, Whenever it was time to run the crawlspace ducts, we would always stretch the duct out, attach the boot, wrap our hanger strap at regular intervals, and position it at the crawlspace entrance. that way, the duded or dudes in the crawlspace could just drag each run down as needed and have it fully ready for installation and hanging back to the distro box or trunk as needed. Not only was it faster that way, but the results were always better on the end product.
ОтветитьAll you have to do is hook the one end and when you hook the other end, pull it tight.
