then you lose money for the room.
ОтветитьIf someone does not have an ID does that prevent them from making a new reservation then and there?
ОтветитьIf it has a name and picture on it then it is a bit ridiculous. You should let people know this on the website and when they pay for it. I have never heard of asking for an ID and I've stayed at quite a few hotels. They ask for the car license plate so they can verify who is using the parking spots but that's it
ОтветитьTo leave someone without a place to stay for the night because you have requirements not previously disclosed and that not everyone asks for is a bit ridiculous. I get needing another form of identification with their name on it to make sure the credit card is t stolen but when they do with name and picture and it doesn't mean anything it's a bit scratchy. This is how my dad got his information stolen and had identity theft, the employee stole it.
ОтветитьWell, at least now I know not to bother trying to check in at a "Schmarriot" hotel. I lost my driver's license, birth certificate, & S.S card over 10 years ago in a house fire, & have yet to have them replaced. It's a vicious circle- you can't get one document without the other 2. I am 59 years old & can't even pick up some of my prescriptions if I don't have someone with me who has a gov't ID. It's ridiculous. Thankfully I rarely go anywhere, so getting a hotel would only be for an absolute emergency. Back when I had my documents, I never needed them for getting hotel/motel rooms. Just like how all you needed was good old green cash- no credit/debit cards were necessary. There's a lot of good in how the world has changed, but much of the changes just plain suck, & are a big pain in the rear end.
ОтветитьI'm from Germany so why do so many people not have an ID? Isn't it required?
Here in Germany you must have one officially when you turn 16
I have literally been handed a Casco card for an id that guest had to find somewhere else to stay
ОтветитьUsing my name is sad
Ответить...I thought his name was John Smith??! 🤔
ОтветитьI had to ask the hotel to ask for my ID and were annoyed I did.
ОтветитьI stay at different hotels nearly on a weekly basis across several countries in europe and occasionally further out for work.
Never once was I asked for ID checking in. 🫤
Genuine question- why would someone like this guy not have their ID? I get the impression it’s because they are trying to hide something, but what is it that they are trying to hide? My brain jumps to identity theft but that seems a little extreme
ОтветитьI’ve seen a TSA agent accepted a Costco membership card as an ID.
ОтветитьI once had a guy hand me a credit card that clearly had a woman’s name on it. When I asked him for his ID he said I wasn’t allowed by law to ask him for his ID and if I continued to require his ID he would call the police on me. I just said “ go ahead”. He walked out of the restaurant.
ОтветитьFor those wondering about people who don’t drive at all - my MIL never drove an inch in her whole life but she had a state or US govt (not sure which) ID card that is just as valid as a driver’s license. Every single American should be aware of this.
ОтветитьStayed at a hotel this weekend and was never asked for my id
ОтветитьAnd what if you dont have a drivers license or passport
ОтветитьI appreciate you protecting against stolen credit cards, but after my state moved to requiring government id to vote I learned
1. Just how few people have them
2. What an enormous hassle it can beto get, especially when you were born in another state or in another country on a military base and
3. how INSANELY expensive it can be to get all the documents a state requires. Like 2-4 TIMES the cost of the poll taxes charged under Jim Crow.
So, while this guy is shady AF w his photographs & such, I hope that budget hotels are more flexible than the one in this short. Poor people have to travel too, for work or family, and the demands on unbanked people are even steeper.
There is no such a thing as a govt., ID. If someone does not drive, no need for license.
The only govt form of ID is a passport which only is issued if one travels to another nation.
IN THE U.S. THERE IS NO FEDERAL ID AND I HOPE IT NEVER COMES TO PASS.
So what ID should one have when there is nonLEGAL requirement????
Guy: “I don’t have an ID”
Me automatically: WHAT THE HELL?!
With all the cc fraud and chargebacks going on we definitely get ID. Only exception to that would be for the regular guests that stay week after week
ОтветитьBut requiring an ID to vote is somehow "racist".
ОтветитьI will just give a tip to tbose of you in the public who dont work at hotels.....
The days of John Doe and Jane Doe getting to come in and not tell us who they with merely cash on the barrelhead is long gone.
Also, "NO!", We will NOT let you use a Credit Card from your Brother, your Boyfriend, your Wife, or Great Uncle Larry to pay for your room merely because you happen to be holding it.
Only the hotels that charge hourly are his best bet.
ОтветитьI’ve worked two seasons at a firework store now. You would not believe how many times this happens. Someone tried to give me his community college ID a father and son tried to give me their fishing licenses. And don’t even get me started on the people who walk up to the door, see the sign that we need ID, come in and shout at me when I tell them I need their ID and they have to go back to their car or they didn’t even bring it with them
ОтветитьI work at the customer service counter at a grocery store at night. Asked a guy for I.D. last night, and he handed me a gas station rewards card. Same guy last week wanted to pay with a competitor's discount card. These people really exist.
Ответить...So, why exactly do US hotels require government issued ID to check in?
I don't think any hotel I've ever stayed in in any European country has ever asked me /my partner /my Mum for ID at check-in.. they usually just asked for personal details verbally, sometimes asked for the reservation number -which I'd show on my phone - and sometimes asked for the card the reservation was under - but this was never compulsory, as OBVIOUSLY sometimes the reservation would have been paid for with e.g. my Mum's or my partner's card, so I wouldn't have their card with me - the email confirmation with reservation number and verbally confirming my name.
This skit always reminds me of the time I grabbed the wrong card and tried to get into a Costco with a Bed Bath and Beyond gift card. They were the only two white cards in my wallet! Haha
ОтветитьAs someone who works in retail, I’ve never understood why people get so upset when you ask to see their ID. Like it’s taking longer to get this over with because you won’t take your ID out for a few seconds.
ОтветитьTitle:Every excuse in the book
Me:
Did the dog eat the I.d?
Just not to vote ;-)
Ответитьi dont understand what's the hassle to just show your ID 😭
Ответитьyou can just tell you have an animal cus of that jacket 😂
ОтветитьWhy on earth do you need ID to stay in a hotel. Surely, as long as I pay, that should be enough. Is that so big brother can keep tabs on everything I do?
Ответитьusing random membership cards as ID rly got me X'D
ОтветитьBack from Blockbuster was a thing they refused to give me a membership because I didn't have a cell phone. I gave them a home phone but without a cell phone they refused to rent my movies or membership. I feel that such things is what killed them.
ОтветитьAre you law enforcement? No.
A
Has your customer commited an actual crime? No
Tthen you do not have any authority to ask for an i.d.
Very unethical and very unconstituional.
You are committing an actual crime demanding i.d.
Get over yourself natalia.
On the other hand, some people don't have government issued photo ID. This is one of the reasons the Republicans want voters to have to show ID at the polls. And, of course, without ID it's extremely difficult to get ID.
In order to get a learner's permit in my mid-30s (2005) without government ID, I first had to get a US passport, but without ID, I had to prove who I was with things like all my grade school and high school report cards, my high school ID card, signed papers from people who knew me to be me.
Why do you need ID to stay at a hotel anyway?
ОтветитьAH yes. Good old Shmariotts. TBH I actually enjoyed working for them. Up until....the sister property...
ОтветитьDo a video about the guest that keep forgetting their keys in the rooms and they're down at the desk every 5 minutes asking for a key
ОтветитьHe would have been fine had he been voting. But unfortunately you need an ID for almost everything else in life
ОтветитьUse mobile check-in. Problem solved.
ОтветитьI worked at a hotel for a year before someone told me you had to show an ID.
And it wasn't the hotel who told me , it was a guest checking in.
Only time I've ever been asked for ID and credit card at check in is in the United States. Everywhere else they believe you when you give your name, and debit your card at check out.
ОтветитьOkay while that's understandable, the clerk usually also has discretion on these types of things. It is not illegal to check someone in without identification. It might be hotel policy but it's not against the law. It's not alcohol, tobacco, or firearms. The ATF doesn't regulate hotel occupancy.
Until just a few years ago social security numbers were still printed on Alabama identifications you got an elderly person whose ID expired 11 years ago and hasn't driven in over a decade but they want to check into a hotel, their ID might have their social security number on it that's a valid reason did not want to show it to people. Because it's the only idea they have. Conversely, buying alcohol, tobacco, or firearms, and expired identification is also not considered valid. But turning it down as a form of identification at a hotel is just petty. And like I said, the Clark usually has the discretion on that. Shifty people with stolen CC s I'm not going to have a Sam's club membership with their picture on it with the same name as the credit card.
I miss the covid days where everything was contact-less.
But you can vote without an ID.. LOL...
ОтветитьIf you choose not to carry a valid ID, just expect to not do a whole lot of things anymore. 😂
Ответитьyou could do a series of 1950s hotels .. No ID , No pay in advance , No deciding how long you are staying & trust that you pay before leaving !
ОтветитьNice wallet
Ответить
