Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever - The Cinema Snob

I tried watching this movie oncer, I got in 20 minutes then said nope. Your review will elevate it 😂

I know Roger Ebert already said this in his review, but why is this movie called Ecks vs. Sever when it features them working together?

I think I've only seen the VHS (or DVD) cover at my local Video Store back in the day. Never rented it nor seen it.
Looking at the footage here, it does look like a demo reel of explosions and stuntwork, with a pretty thin plot. Kind of cool to hear there exists a GBA game that came out while this movie was still in development limbo. Almost rare that a game based on a movie, let alone one in development limbo, is actually better than the movie.
Also, was Stephen Sommers a fan of this movie, seeing Ray Park in here, and the plot revolving around Nanobots does seem to strike s similarity to 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra", where Park played Snake-Eyes.

Steven Segal would have been a better Ecks

I remember seeing a review of this film on a website, where the body of the review was just "Screw Flanders." over and over again.

I watched this threatened. It was not that bad. I think I also smoked a joint too before watching. I like it.

This looks as terrible as I expect a Lucy liu lead film to be.
I suspect that films like this where the script has been changed so it is a different film are really picked up by someone who couldn't get their film made so buys up one with contacts signed as a way of making it.

I thought this was based on the game that came out before it but no, it was the other way round.

I saw this in the theater. I worked at said theater at the time so I got to see it for free. Thankfully.

All I could think while watching it was how it was a horrible movie that COULD have been great.
Having a forgettable title didn't help, and I caught myself hating it a second time.

I remember first hearing about this film from two reviewers called Taylorem and Dill back in the early 2010s (miss those guys). It seemed like kind of a mess, especially the acting.

As someone who grew up in the early 2000s, I remember the cover art for this movie a lot in magazines back then but I never got around to actually see it.

I've been waiting for this review since Violent Shit 4.0

Actually adding the Demonic Toys to the movie will make it a lot more bad ass.

The original version that would've had
Jean Reno ("LÉON: The Professional")
and Chow Yun-fat ("PIRATES OF THE
CARIBBEAN: At World's End") sounds
like it would have been better than what

Cool, I was wondering when a major channel was gonna do this one. It is one of the most infamously bad movies of all time, after all!

Literally the only time I've ever even heard of this movie was when I saw an article in Nintendo Power about a video game adaptation.

A ton of people thought this was based on a video game that came out 10 months before the movie did, but the movie's final cut took so long to make that they made yet another game based on the film just before the movie came out in theaters. Unlike the movie, some gamers actually LIKE the game based on the movie.

The trailer made this movie look so much cooler.

For all the explosions the movie had, it was still painfully boring. If you just want car explosions, you will probably find more enjoyment from a random Cannon movie (or an 80s b-movie in general).

I have seen acouple of reviews to this movie and people have said its not that good of a movie i mean the movie looks insane and all but yeah would you call this ‘so bad its good’ or is it ‘meh avoid it all costs’ kind of film

The poster for the movie looks like a Terminator film, the action looks over the top like Face/Off, and the two main leads have been in some fun movies what's not to love?

The movie might have done better under the title Batshit: Explosions vs Cars.
