ОтветитьThe real question, that you guys guess at but don't test, is would this VAT 69 hold up to modest amounts of soda, water, and/or ice? As you recognize, VAT 69 isn't meant to be consumed neat. Like most inexpensive blends, it's meant for mixing with soda or water, and I don't mean a teaspoon of soda or water. Scotch and soda, or water, drinkers will usually do about 2/3rds scotch to 1/3rd soda plus some ice. And while this will make the flavor of any inexpensive blend less harsh, some are actually enhanced and complemented by this. And this isn't just a matter of the complexity of the undiluted flavor, neat. Recently I tried Isle of Skye 8 because my local Total Wine was out of my go to, Dewars WL. The Isle of Skye wasn't bad neat but when I added soda and ice, the flavor just disappeared, literally. In contrast, the flavors of Dewars WL or JWR holds up well to, and are maybe even complemented by, 1/3rd soda or water, plus some ice.
ОтветитьI used to drink this 'back in the day' & it was okay then, not what i'd call a stunner, but a lot better than a lot of its competitor blends ( JW, Ballantines, Bells, Teachers, even Chivas). In a blind it would be interesting with a lot of Japanese Whisky IMO.
ОтветитьDefinitely makes me think of Band of Brothers where the real life Lewis Nixon drank this like a fish.
ОтветитьOh well... I guess it's time to bring blended scotch and compare them all😊
ОтветитьYikes! Such garbage!
ОтветитьHave this bottle sitting in my stash unopened for probably 3 years now. Got it only cause of Band of Brothers. Next time I watch that series I’m opening this bottle 😆
ОтветитьI can't find this anywhere?
