I live in north Georgia, where we have hard clay soil. About three years ago, I've tried the two you used , and three others before finally finding one that worked for me, the NoMol trap. They are more time consuming to set, especially since you have to install them "butt to butt", then cover the exposed tunnel with a scrap of wood, but they did the job. FWIW, I didn't have just moles, but voles and shrews, and this trap caught them too.
ОтветитьDo you leave the carcass out for natural predators to feed on?
Ответитьi dont like that pull spring trap i pinched the crap out of my finger, and i threw it away, it always false triggers and wont work in soft soil. dont waste your money on that one
ОтветитьAll you have to do is get rid of the grub worms and you wont have moles. Clown shoes
ОтветитьLearn to live with nature. Moles aerate your soil, eat grubs. All this for a pristine lawn that doesn't even look at good a field of wildflowers.
ОтветитьLeave the poor cnt be
ОтветитьYou have moles because you have unhealthy grass. Use lime and quit using synthetic fertilizer.
ОтветитьMy darn mole is a road engineer. He builds new highways every time.
ОтветитьGg skill issue mole get good
ОтветитьThat is not, mole trails! It is voles! Moles make piles of soil above the ground! Voles don’t do this!
Ответитьso glad your crutch is dry
ОтветитьOK but....... IT'S GRASS! Dirt! Unless the mole is curing your cables or whatever LET THEM LIVE! Dents in your lawn don't kill you.
ОтветитьSo yarddog or wiretek, which is better? Yarddog is cheaper
ОтветитьThese moles were here in north america long before any european settler showed up with their pristine, green lawns. If you want to protect your garden, then fine, move the moles, but it is disgusting for anyone to find joy in killing a creature that does you no harm and is only trying to survive in its NATIVE HABITAT.
ОтветитьWhy not just stick an exhaust hose down one of the runs?
ОтветитьThe high thing is great until you realize the highway is in your neighbors yard😂
ОтветитьKool pants..lol
ОтветитьJesus, just quit with the fuvking shitty grass and just grow interesting plants in your yards, this lawn shit is stupid, I hate having a lawn and having to fuvking mow it every week or two it’s a fuvking pain…
ОтветитьI tried all the traps, poison and gas. Nothing worked. Couldn't understand how one mole was doing so much damage on 1/4 acre. Every answer to my questions were that moles are very territorial and that it was probably one mole. I would press down the tunnels only to find later in the day that it was pushed up again. Finally I decided to do it manually. So starting on July 1st 2024, I cut the grass low, placed out a garden hose and shovel close by. Every 15 to 20 minutes I would walk out and look over at where the tunnel was located. Once I saw movement, I snuck up, used the shovel to block the tunnel and began to fill the tunnel with water. I also soaked the ground above to prevent it from pushing it's nose into the dirt for air. After a few minutes the mole would come to the surface, where I would quickly dispatch him. YES! I got him. Problem solved. NOT! Two days later I saw the tunnel again active. So I started all over. Over 21 days I removed 7 moles, three in two days that were using the very same tunnel that the original mole was. Another 5 days later and I got another. That's 8 moles in 26 days on 1/4 acre. These mole experts are IDIOTS! It's now been a week and I haven't seen any mole sign but as soon as I do, he's in for a rude awakening.
ОтветитьI need a few of these. They've been driving me crazy every year. I do my best to keep my lawn looking good and then they come to ruin it. I've noticed that in the fall is when mole activity really picks up in my area. Thank you for posting this video Sir!
Marco P.
Good video! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
ОтветитьGet rid of pests grubs usually. This wouldn't be necessary. It worked for a lawn I was caring for ..Scott's grub begone put out in the fall and early spring. Prevents mole infestation.
ОтветитьI've used the plunger type mole trap that you don't like for many years and have killed many moles with it. We have rocky soil and it's too difficult to get the other type into the ground. They are easy to set. First you don't set them and then put them in the ground, you put them in the ground then pull the spring up. I've even caught some moles alive where they were trapped between the spikes. Caught one yesterday alive, but didn't remain that way. We live in the country and the tear up our yard but I keep after them.
ОтветитьThose scissor traps do work very well! Just last week I used a garden hose and flooded every tunnel I could find in my front and back yards. That drove ONE MOLE to the surface (it was immediately dispatched!) and, as of today, NONE of the tunnels have reappeared.
ОтветитьA tip I’ve heard to get rid of Moles and Voles is Marshmallows. They can’t digest them and it kills them.
ОтветитьI've lived in the same home for 20 years. I would see the mole activity now and then but did not pay much attention to it. A few months ago I had some new sod put in the back yard. The landscaper told me I had mole activity, and it was crazy. I decided to try and fight them initially with the battery operated "mole chasers." I bought a 4-pack. Worthless. I actually noticed more activity. Then I used some of the bait pellets. Useless. Like feeding candy to a shark.
I then spoke to a neighbor who had a problem a few years ago. He recommended "Wire-Tek." I bought one off Amazon. It was about $36 dollars. I started to use it and got nothing the first week, but like you said, you have to be patient. The mole or moles have "runs" or patterns they follow. Once you determine how they travel, you can place the traps. I ended up buying another Wire-Tek trap. In the past week I have dispatched two moles. I now walk my property at least once a day to see if there is activity. This past Monday night I noticed a raised area. I placed a trap, stomped down the dirt around it and covered it with water. The next morning the trap was sprung, and the mole was dispatched. Thanks for the video and input. I'll continue to hunt these things and treat them like a serial killer.
DISGUSTING!!!!!! It's YOU who is in HIS territory, not the other way round. So dissapointing. Somehow i always thought you're a decent guy
ОтветитьI used scissor type in the past with success. Now having sandy soil they don't work so good, frequently popping out. I used the water hose method to take care of. I have a new more elusive one on the prowl now.
ОтветитьI have a huge moral problem and I bought the scissors traps and caught two the first week one the second week and then they tunnel up to the Trap and go around
ОтветитьWhat's the best way to fix the mole damage in the yard?
ОтветитьYeah the plunger traps suck. They spring and wound a mole and he may go a few feet before dying
ОтветитьJust bought two. Design seems good but just found out my mole's main run to enter the yard is along the shed foundation made of 4x4's, so this trap cannot get close enough to the edge to cover the hole...May have to try the "bad" design or the gopher hawk instead :(
ОтветитьI live in the Panhandle and tried several different traps. In the end the opossums were digging the moles out of their runs and eating them. The moles were active early in the morning when my sprinkler system was running.
ОтветитьLast year I had 3 cats, 2 new neighbors,😡 & ultimately 0 moles. This year I still have the newbies but cats "mysteriously" gone. I trained them to (smell) kill moles. The newbies super highway of moles is NOW IN MY YARD & I'm p'd off.
Their grandparents❤ used to live there (until covid) and LOVED not having to hunt moles & mice. We had a beautiful relationship, evidently not anymore!!
I got the trap with the spikes that u don’t like but I must of been putting it in the wrong place your video was very helpful gonna try and catch this sucker tonight 😂
ОтветитьThanks Allan I got one right after watching your video. I set it up today tomorrow evening I will check to see if I got that little bastard..
ОтветитьI've had some luck with the Tom Cat brand plastic scissor traps. "Some" luck. I wouldn't call them humane traps because I've pulled live ones out.
Ответитьthere are other ways to chase a mole away. You dont have to kill it. Sad to see, you treated it like vermin
ОтветитьTrying to kill that mole... still 😂
ОтветитьI used the same scissor trap and it worked good. I agree
ОтветитьA hint ive learebd for working with these is to keep them clean, and also may need to loosen up the nut in the middle to allow it to spring into action easier. You can lessen the pressure it takes to set it off. Also step down on the tunnel, push the trap all the way down then wiggle side to side to help loosen up the soil to where the arms will be able to cut through the dirt easier. Then slightly pull up just a hair on the trao to where you see the trigger barely touching the ground.
ОтветитьI just mooved, and I have 20" tall mounds of dirt showing up in my lawn 🤣
ОтветитьDid any come back
ОтветитьTraps aren't necessary. Do some research before you waste your money and time. Also, in some areas they don't create "surface" tunnels.
ОтветитьMy cat leave the moles on my deck!
ОтветитьThis guy is 💯 right. In my experience 9 times out of 10, the mole highway is along bed edging, buried downspout pipe, and irrigation lines and particularly sidewalks…..
ОтветитьIs there no way to deter those boogers? I hate any rodents dont want to deal with them
Ответитьexcellent, thanks. I will try this! How do I know how many moles I have?
ОтветитьThis mole i have is a smart SOB he senses the metal from the trap and goes deeper than the spikes or want go that direction?? I will build a wood trap and see if it will work.
