What a wonderful movie! The ending was shocking; but still. Love Seymore... And I love the storyline, as well. I was a child in the 50's and 60's, though not in the South. Still, I remember those horrible times well - and my parents were very much into Civil Rights.

Don't no why after the civil war negros didn't go up north and into Canada like hundreds did if not more. Goodbye usa and start a new life. ! It could have been a real Exodus 😊

THANK You Rare Films for yet another TREASURE!! What a lovely movie, with such a good message. Isn't it strange how right & wrong alter from time to time. Back then one was within their right to discriminate due to color & race, here in the west, while it was considered wrong in the east. But there were injustices in the east that slipped through the cracks that were unlawful & wrong in the west. Today we think we know right from wrong, yet there still are those who exercise their "right to do wrong", and turn our world into a battle-field, one nation at a time - Sad but true!!
Jane Seymour - What a Beautiful Lady!! I just saw her in "The Absolute Truth" as an American reporter & marveled at her American accent, & here she is with a southern drawn an' awl-!? I was wowed, so am adding this to the WOWorthy Playlist on my channel. Hope it will draw others to watch this fine film & think about what we can all do to make EARTH livable for all. Another well deserved 👍from meee tooo!!

I will never understand how any human could do these types of things

And still think they are humans. And to go to church in front of God and not be afraid of his rathf. I know this back many years ago and these people are all dead. But I also know they are all in hell.

This type of movie is always very hard for me to watch. But we need to watch and learn. And never forget. And it is still going on. And we need to keep fighting for the human race.

I sobbed my heart out. Thank you very much for this movie.

The cars were real works of art unlike the tin cans we have now.

Excellent movie, great performances and plot is really good, too. Maybe not the most important thing to focus but I love how loving and supportive the husband is to her. Hope it remains so to the end.

I don't understand why she didn't call an important newspaper from the North; That would of drawn the attention of the whole country to the city. They would be and feel much more controlled.....

I'm a 67 yr old woman and this movie is outstanding! I grew up with generations of racists relatives. My 87 yr old mother was born in West Virginia and grew up surrounded by this hideous hatred towards blacks. Her great grandmother shot and killed a black man just for walking at the edge of her property. The sheriff was her friend and they shared the same hatred towards blacks. Nothing ever happened to my mother's great grandmother. To this day my mother remains a racist but always denies it when I call her out on it. She's just too old to change!! I'm proud to say that me, my 3 sisters, their children and grandchildren do not see color!

Everytime this type of movie is shown it makes me ashamed to be white. The horrible injustice that has been inflicted on our African Americans will be judged by God.
